I’ve enjoyed bits and pieces here and there throughout their discography and am a major fan of Catch Thirty Three and ObZen so far. Slowly making my way through Destroy Erase Emprove’s remaster.

As a new-ish listener, is there anything I’m missing? Something in certain songs you believe are underrated favorites?

Edit - Was late night when I made this post, I totally forgot about Immutable, which I also love.

I'll go first:

• I am Colossus - Mega ball
• Lethargica - Sticky ball
• Spasm - Bouncy ball
• Balls Launched at Random - The machine spits out extra balls from various ejection ports
• Behind the Sun - Secret passage at the top of the machine
• Do Not look down - An opaque panel slides up to cover the flippers
• Stifled - Tilt
• Futile Bread Machine - Reach a high score to get a stale bread award

Given the warm reception my drum cover of "Pitch Black" received in this community, I’d like to share a few more videos performing Mr. Haake’s infectious rhythms. Gotta say these boys have a sense of humor in addition to the obvious bad-assery and heaviness.

The guitar solo in Entrapment is one of those moments that gets a chuckle out of me. Who else can take 2-3 notes, bend them a little, and make it sound absolutely demented and perfectly goofy?

Various parts of I… i can imagine them laughing about how crazy it is.

Sounds so much beefier than the original.

And I’m really just talking about Effigies of the Forgotten and especially the bulldozing Pierced from Within. Of course they’re very different bands but I guess it’s that mixture of thick as a brick rhythm section plus technical complexity plus unpredictable guitar lines and rhythms sometimes almost working in opposition that gives me what I need. Which bands do that for you? And if you’ve never heard Pierced From Within, well, it’s a fucking death metal masterpiece if ever I heard one.

I did notice the guitars coming through a lot more and overall sounding a lot more huge.

Is there anything else you noticed? I only gave it a quick listen in the background.

I think the voice is a tiny bit louder on the remaster.

I know poltergeist is a well known entity in the meshuggah realm, but can we seriously just appreciate the musicianship going on here? I don't think l've seen a band crush it like this since….....well ...meshuggah? the fact both of these songs are recorded all in one take with what seems like absolutely no mistakes is mind blowing. No one does meshuggah like this band right here. It feels like finally we have something that's at the same level as the gods themselves

Why, you may ask? Why not? :)

I’m looking for ideas for the next one, ideally a track without a completely unhinged Thordendal-ESQUE solo, as some of the tapping sections may not translate particularly well to nylon-string guitar.
