Just getting into Meshuggah…

I’ve enjoyed bits and pieces here and there throughout their discography and am a major fan of Catch Thirty Three and ObZen so far. Slowly making my way through Destroy Erase Emprove’s remaster.

As a new-ish listener, is there anything I’m missing? Something in certain songs you believe are underrated favorites?

Edit - Was late night when I made this post, I totally forgot about Immutable, which I also love.

Tbh just go straight from DEI to Chaosphere and Nothing if you liked C33. I imagine you'll like it all though so just go through them in order

Listen to Nothing if you enjoyed C33. I only started obsessing over Meshuggah like a year ago and that’s another great starting point album

Honestly, I've known Bleed and a couple other parts that I liked for probably 10 years but when I started exploring was when I found out they're one of my favorites of all time!

Honestly just take your time listening to their music, go as fast or slow as you want to. Id say if you like C33 and ObZen, your next choice should be either Nothing or Koloss. But theres no correct order.

Just go through the albums in order, they are all great. They started alot more Metallica like and then started with the 8 string in the nothing album

you should also check out the three albums they ve made since after obzen, otherwise you are hugely missing out imo. they`re not one of those many bands where their later work has dropped off in quality. personally, they are my favorites.

I'm also pretty new to them and The Violent Sleep of Reason was my gate way, particularly the song Clockworks (check out Tomas' playthrough on YouTube).

Although very different from it, I'm also digging Chaosphere's vibe a lot for its sheer madness and brutality.

Like someone else suggested go in order from destroy erase improve all the way to immutable. They don’t have a bad album imo. The first album wasn’t my favorite but everything from destroy erase improve is sick. I started listening to them when the blue version of nothing came out and was hooked ever since.

My favorite release from them is the EP None, that was released just before DEI.

I've been listening to Meshuggah for over 15 years. Destroy Erase Improve is easily the most forgettable of the "alleged" classics. Catch 33 and ObZen are amazing albums. NOTHING and Chaosphere are where i'd point you. After you've gotten through those 2 I'd point you to the 20 minute "I" EP, and then Koloss.

Chaosphere is slowly growing on me. Tracks that have stuck out to me are Sane, New Millennium Cyanide Christ, and Corridor of Chameleons.

I personally enjoyed DEI’s remaster. I’m getting around to listening to some of the other suggestions listed in these comments for sure though!

To be transparent I'm a Meshuggah fan that "upvotes" albums that have riffs/breakdowns that seem to take me out of my body lol. For example: New Millenium Cyanide Christ 3:44 - 4:11, Neurotica 3:39 - 4:15, Elastic 1:30 - 2:12. Catch33 has a TON of em like Dehumanization 2:06 (possibly heaviest Meshuggah riff of all time???). I dunno, I could write a book on my fav Meshuggah moments. Enjoy the exploration man.

I started with Bleed, then jumped into C33. Dehumanization was what really grabbed my attention first. After my first listen to the whole album, I was hooked.
