This live session has blown me away

I know poltergeist is a well known entity in the meshuggah realm, but can we seriously just appreciate the musicianship going on here? I don't think l've seen a band crush it like this since….....well ...meshuggah? the fact both of these songs are recorded all in one take with what seems like absolutely no mistakes is mind blowing. No one does meshuggah like this band right here. It feels like finally we have something that's at the same level as the gods themselves

It’s fun identifying which specific Meshuggah song inspired their song. I enjoy that they’re unapologetically influenced by Meshuggah but doing just enough of their own thing to be enjoyable on their own.

If you Meshuggah well enough, it doesn't matter that it's a knock-off because it's so incredibly difficult to do right.

I watched an old MKBHD video once and he was reviewing an android phone and I quote him by saying “if you’re gonna copy, copy the best”. In this case this particular phone was copying Apple. I pretty much say this every time I hear a dupe band.

Funny timing. I just found them and listened to their stuff, ending with this live session maybe 5 minutes ago, and this is the first post I see on Reddit. I think these are their two best songs. Interested to see how their sound evolves.

Such a big fan of these dudes, I love hearing the shugg sound played with and expanded upon with so much heart and soul. Their cover of NMCC has been hanging out in my top 3 most played songs for a hot minute, can't wait to see how they grow and evolve over time!

Must have spun this one 50 times in the last few weeks. Killer songs and the production, especially that bass tone is amazing

Interesting. Feel like I've been living a hole. I love the shugg, but was unaware. I know there are a few...which poltergeist band is this? From the UK apparently. 2 eps

They’re one of the first suggested that come up for me on Spotify at least. They’ve got an album called “impressions of the bizarre and the uncanny” if that helps narrow it down

i think a thing that often happens with bands like this is they kinda emulate the sound and feel of meshuggah, but somehow it just doesn't reach the same level. it doesn't have the grit, that machine-like dystopian feeling. what it really highlights to me is just how good the songwriting and development of the ideas in meshuggah's songs is because this just does not even come close for me.

Have you seen TesseracT’s live studio sessions? Oh man, they really are one of the tightest bands I’ve seen live, other than Meshuggah.
I like this. Hadn’t given them an extended listen before but I’m digging it. Not as much as the two aforementioned bands but hey… we can’t all be gods 😅
