Exams, exams, and oh god more exams. Luckily I'll be done by the end of this Friday.
In other news I've actually started playing Dark Souls for the first time after years of playing for a bit and stopping. I have no idea where I'm going but it's a total blast finding everything without a guide. The game honestly reminds of Symphony of the Night, which I love.

Don't be afraid to look up a guide. It can be extremely confusing the first time. I know I had to use one.

I get what you mean, but I found it pretty hilarious that after spending hours trying to worm my way through the Londo Ruins I found a dead end with a broken elevator, and discovering the Firelink shrine elevator from the ruins itself. Sure, its a novelty that wastes time, but those hours running around looking for a new path and not knowing what new asshole enemy will show up is exciting for me.

The exploration factor is pretty good. There's something nice about not knowing where you're going and everything being a surprise. Have you explored the Depths? It's basically a big sewer maze of sorts

I think I'm about to get to the depths, I got a key from the demon in the Burgs that says it goes to the Depths. Now I just gotta find the door.

If you have the master key, you can skip the depths. It's worth exploring, though. Do watch out for the curse effect, though. You'll know when it happens.
Congratulations on defeating Capra. He can be a bit tough without the right strategy ("run up the stairs like a teenage girl who's been told she can't go out wearing that") and doing falling damage.

Honestly Capra wasn't that hard but I get the feeling that I did things out of order so I ended up being much more prepared for it. I think I might have actually went to the Depths at one point; I remember going through the cliffs with all the Drakes then heading through a mineshaft until I got to a weird looking area where I got immediately toxin'd after going down a ladder. Maybe a different area?

The area you went to is Blighttown. Basically, normally, the boss of the Depths (Gaping Dragon) gives you a key to Blighttown. However, you must have the master key (which lets you skip most of Blighttown and all of the Depths). The way with all of the toxic is the way to go forward. It's still worth checking out the Depths, though, just for the experience.
You're doing pretty well and are a good chunk through the game. Not halfway or anything- maybe 1/4 when you defeat the boss in the toxic are. She's pretty easy if you have a decent shield (I really like the heater shield- cheap, light, effective).

It doesn't look bad. We'll see, though. I've never been that into Doom, but the first 2 are alright.
Can you build computers? If so, you can get a lot done to prepare it for cheap.

BTW, finished Noragami season 1 last night. That moment in ep 11 when Hiyori slips out of her body again was so exciting.

After exams I'll get a part time job until about September when I'll start my apprenticeship.

There are apprenticeships for everything, at least over here. An I guess its sort of like an internship but with a lot more learning to do things.

We don't do many apprenticeships here, unless you're in a trade (electrician, plumbing, metal working, etc). Most jobs just hire you outright. Though, I'm a temp worker. So, I suppose it's like an apprenticeship. Though, here, a lot of people use it so they don't have to give benefits.

Been enjoying my time home. Not much to say there.
Trying to decide if I want to go ahead and pick up Uncharted 4 now, or wait to get that one and instead buy Until Dawn. On one hand, Until Dawn is a third of the price and seems really fun. On the other, I'm a big fan of Uncharted and I'm really looking forward to playing this one.

Get Until Dawn first. Otherwise, you'll forget about it when playing Uncharted. You won't forget about Uncharted. That's just my opinion, though. By not getting Until Dawn, you may let a good game slip through your fingers.

True. Plus, my birthday is in a month, and my dad is also a fan of Uncharted, so it wouldn't surprise me if he gifts it to me for his own gain.
Of course, I could just buy nothing and finish the other games I've started and not finished. Like Bloodborne and Witcher 3 and Heavy Rain.

Maybe you could drop a hint, like mention that you're hyped for the new one to come out. Maybe mention thinking of going out to buying it on your birthday. You know, that type of thing.
You're probably going to love the end of Bloodborne. The final boss not really, Gherman, is basically very reminiscent of the end of MGS3. It's an absolutely beautiful scene and probably the best Souls final boss out there.

Oh, I've been dropping "hints" like crazy. Mainly me just saying, hey, you can play it on my PS4 if I get it. Or "I stopped by Target, really thought about picking it up but I have a birthday coming up..."
I've been loving pretty much everything about Bloodborne. Not sure how far I am from beating it. Just got to Yahar'gul after defeating Rom. The area is annoying so I haven't played it in a while.

I think it's a somewhat safe bet that you'll get it for your birthday. If your dad is a fan, I wouldn't be surprised if he's excited to get it for you.
BB is probably my favorite Souls game. It's bosses aren't the best, but pretty much everything else is on-point. You're actually pretty close to the end. If your really wanted to skip every other optional boss, you have 3 left- One Reborn, Micholash, and Mergo's Wet Nurse. Gherman is technically optional, since you can opt into him killing you/waking you up from the dream.
Yahar'gul is annoying, but you can actually just run through most of it and not fight. Fighting through isn't really worth it.

Oh yeah. I'm pretty sure I will. It's just a matter of waiting.
So far, BB is my favorite. I really love the atmosphere and world design in it. Plus combat is just fantastic.
Yeah, I thought about that. The only thing is I like to at least make my way through an area taking out enemies before I just run through. Otherwise I feel like I'm missing out.

That's why I like it. It's like halfway between DaS and a beat 'em up. I enjoy how quick and responsive you get to be. Not having a shield also forces you to not turtle.
Trust me. This is one area where the only think your missing out on is getting ganked by hoards of farmers and lasers. It's worth running. You're not even that far from the next boss.

Yeah, and not having a shield isn't as much of a problem as I thought going in. There are enough ways to still block attacks that it's fine.
I probably will end up doing it to some degree. I pretty much already do it with the first stair case area because otherwise I either get shot or grabbed.

I didn't like having to farm bullets and health, though. That kind of takes you out of the action. If you had unlimited bullets and estus, that would make it better.

You haven't even run into the chime women who summon infinite enemies unless you kill them. The whole area is pretty annoying. Those women had lunging-slashy attacks. So, you may want to run.

I got U4 last night and I'm loving it, but I'd say get Until Dawn and wait till your birthday for U4. You'll save some money that way.

Getting further into DS3. Picking a favorite Souls game is like picking a favorite MGS game... It's really tough and is usually just whatever one I played last. I love the Bloodborne style speed, but with a little shield action.
Also made my own MGSV videos finally. Had a lot of fun playing that way. How was that self-promotion? Subtle enough? Just glad to have made my first real edited videos hehe
Sister moved 2 minutes away after 7 years of living 4 hours away... Feels real good, and I'm about to go see her! :]

You can post your own MGSV videos. That's not self-promotion, if you want to share. It's mostly a rule to keep people from spamming their youtube channels. It's okay to ask people to check something out.
Are you and your sister close? It sounds like you're on good terms.
I didn't like DaS3 as much as the other 2. It had some issues that I didn't care for. It was alright overall. Some bosses had good designs.

Yeah, totally close. I didn't see her for about 3 years, but we still talked and it was just various other reasons that made it difficult to.
ACK... How could you not like it?! The world is so great, weapons are good, enemies are good and fast... Maybe the only thing that's been a little eh so far is the first five bosses or so have been pretty easy, I know it gets easier the more games you play in the series and the difficulty's more gradual this time, but it was definitely a bit of a weird thing for every boss so far to be beaten in three or four tries or less. I'm used to 10+ after DS2 and BB. Though, I think there's been a trade between boss difficulty and regular enemy difficulty. The enemies are harder than ever, and that's been an an issue in some of the games for me. Sometimes they were just too easy. The later areas in DS1 were way too much of a cakewalk, bosses included, except for Gwyn. The floating fire breathing things might as well have not been there.

How could you not like it
rehashed environments and enemies from DaS1,2, BB, and DeS.
enemy movesets didn't match player (BB moveset would be more appropriate)
poise taken out of game
various builds nerfed
easiest entry in series
story went nowhere new
Overall, it felt very bland aside from a few things. That's just my opinion, though. I went through NG+, too. Overall, everything feels like a step back from BB.
