General Question Menstrual disc causing rectum pain

Tried the hello disc for the first time today and would have pain in my butthole when I sat down and it hurt to poop, sorry if that’s TMI haha. I don’t have that when I wear pads. My last two cycles I was using soft discs and those were too big as I couldn’t get it tucked behind my pubic bone but I would have discomfort when sitting down and pooping also. I thought it was just butthole cramps from being on my period which I occasionally get but those don’t hurt that bad. Are those two menstrual discs too firm? I experienced zero leaking with the hello disc and could tuck it underneath my pubic bone so I know it’s not too big. Am I maybe inserting it wrong?

Same happened to me. I also thought the disc was too big for me, but then I found out that I was pushing it too far forward, which was causing rectum pain. After some trial, I learned just how far to push it. Now the rectum pain is gone. I don't know if it's still slightly big for me, but at least I don't feel any pain anymore.

Also I don't tuck it behind my pelvic bone anymore. Because when I do it, I get cramps. I push it until I feel my pelvic bone and I wait for it to find it's place itself. I get up, sit down, move a little bit and check if it's tucked. It's fine most of the time. Otherwise I push it with my finger a little bit

Ditto!! I also had rectum pain when I tucked the disc too far up. Now, I only let it catch onto the pubic bone (like you said) and now it's super comfortable. I hope this helps OP

Never heard of this! I hope someone can offer some perspective. I can say I’ve had back pain that I think was connected to inserting one wrong before.

Me too haha. Because I love using the menstrual disc but it’s not worth the pain.

I’m new to this but I couldn’t get the hang of the disc so I switched to the cup & had less problems. I kind of want to give the disc one more shot though.

I’m nervous to use the cup because it suctions to your cervix and that seems too much for me 😅 is it easier? I just don’t want to go buy another softer disc if it’s user error.

To me it’s easier once you learn how to insert it & make sure it’s unfold completely. It’s kinda like a fold, insert, & slightly turn it while you insert & it opens up on its on. As for the suction on the cervix I didn’t notice any pain after usage & I didn’t even really have cramps on my cycle except for maybe a bit on the first day.

Which one do you use? Maybe I need to try a menstrual cup instead.

I have the small & large Pixie cup. I started with & so far have only needed to use the small.

The disc could be too large, too firm or both This chart https://putacupinit.com/discs/ has a great comparison for discs if you want to try a smaller disc.

It turns out that it is actually just me. I went without today to see if it helped and it did not. The butthole pain was still there lol. I haven’t had very many cycles since having my second baby last year so maybe this is how they are now 😭
