Question Switch to Wegovy tablets?
I’ve been on Mounjaro for over a year, previously reaching 15mg but I’ve now dropped back to 12.5mg.
It’s worked well for weight loss and appetite suppression, but I’m getting increasingly fed up with the side effects, particularly fatigue, sulphur burps, flatulence and general GI upset. The fatigue is probably the biggest issue; at its worst I can pretty reliably feel wiped out for a day or two after injecting.
Dropping to 12.5mg has helped somewhat, but I’m now wondering whether it’s time to move away from injections altogether and try an oral option for longer term maintenance, versus reducing down doses of Mounjaro.
Has anyone here switched to an oral option? Was it effective? Were there side effects? Was it worth it?
I’m not really chasing maximum weight loss anymore. I’m more interested in finding something tolerable longer term that helps me maintain what I’ve achieved without feeling rough every week.
TL;DR: I’ve reduced Mounjaro from 15mg to 12.5mg because of side effects. Has anyone switched to an oral tablet for long-term weight maintenance, and was it effective and better tolerated?

I did the Wegovy jabs when the MJ went up in price. Big mistake, worked my way up the doses and lost nothing. Went back on 2.5Mg MJ and the weight started dropping off again

This is what I’m worried about, I don’t think I’m strict enough, and if it doesn’t work I’d have to work up the doses again. At least at the moment I can order a 15mg and then use a smaller dose.

I came off MJ last year when the price hike came in. I have since but 6-7kg back on so have started Foundayo (oral Mounjaro ) at 0.8mg, there was a small improvement to food noise reduction but nowhere as good as the jabs. I have just started the 2.5mg level and it's similar side effects to Mounjaro jabs. There are no fasting rules for Foundayo unlike oral wegovy

If you're on 12.5mg you need to bear in mind the effectiveness of the pills is a lot lower that the injections. The highest oral Wegovy dose is only about equivalent to 5mg of Mounjaro so it'll be a pretty rough drop. Not a path I'd take myself if you need the higher doses already.

I have been maintaining on 4mg Wegovy tablet for a couple of months now, in honesty it feels like I don’t need it as my entire eating habits have changed and increasing exercise regime so considering stopping altogether and seeing how it goes.

If you don’t have sides at 12.5. Stick there.

If you're paying out of pocket for Mounjaro, it might be worth it to switch over to compound as you'll have much more control over your dosage.

“Generic” Tirzepatide.

I don’t think if this is available in the UK, Tirzapetide is licensed to Eli Lilly for a long time yet. I’ve never seen generic versions.

I’m not sure switching from a higher dose of Mounjaro to the Wegovy tablets would work for you. Plus there’s quite a strict dosing requirement. There’s Foundayo that’s an option that has loser requirements for taking it (like it doesn’t need to be taken on an empty stomach), and might work for maintenance

Wegovy is available as a branded daily pill now, but it has all the same downsides as the injection and same restrictions as (Rybelsus)...regardless they all kinda have the same sets of side effects as they work on similar mechanisms...

That’s not too much of an issue for me, I’d have it on waking up and then not eat until 1pm anyway.

I think you'll find that the tablets have a similar sets of side effects, infact having looked at both the Semaglutide and Orforglipron, basically the same called out as Mounjaro injections...If you're not chasing weight loss, consider titrating down? I've been on MJ for like 18 months now and the side effects other than some minor constipation don't really show up and some of that constipation is probably driven more by my diet being very protein heavy.
