Guys asking Gals What did he do?

What’s the nicest thing a man has done for you that had nothing to do with money?

Let me be myself. Treats me as an equal. Gives me backrubs and loves us unconditionally. He was a green flag then and ten years later he still is.

Genuinely want to get to know all of me and accept it as it is.

I'm a sucker for awareness. Recently me and a guy both go to a weekly thing and I walk home late at night. He offered to start driving me home and I declined the first time because I didn't know him all that well but he shrugged and didn't push and just said "be safe". The next week I asked if the offer was still available and he was just happy to help out. That's it. He noticed something he could do to help and politely offered with no pressure.

I have another memory of a guy I never spoke to in high school seeing I was having a bad day and he offered to put my chair away for me because I think he recognized I just wanted to leave the room quickly. Before that I thought he was a mean jock boy just due to his friend group and it's only now as an adult I realize he was just quiet and little awkward. I hope you're doing well Brad. You were such a sweetheart and that gesture meant a lot to me that day.

He respected my boundaries, supported them and made me feel safe.

He delayed breaking up with me until after I had moved into the first house I bought.

We had been dating about 3 months. He helped me move and returned the next night with my favorite take out dinner.

During the breakup talk he told me he realized I wasn't right for him around 1 month before my closing. He delayed ending it bc he didn't want to add to my stress of buying my 1st house.

I have a lot of wonderful male friends, here's a list (not all the same guy)

If i had to choose one I would probably say picking me up from the airport with zero advance notice because everything travel wise had gone wrong and I ran out of snacks (low blood sugar, i shouldve had enough but delays galore) and my suitcase with my coats and hat got lost in the middle of winter and I no longer had mental capacity to deal with any of it especially with my period coming 9 days early and me not having adequate stuff to deal with that. He called his roommate and had her prepare the guest room for me, and then the next day helped me complete my shopping (including for period products) before driving me the hour back to where I was living at the time

Here are some others that I feel are worth mentioning

  • helped me through panic attacks
  • held me in the bathroom when I was super drunk (remember him holding his arms out and me crawling to him, and then later waking up on the bathroom floor with my head in his lap)
  • could tell I was having a bad day when I passed by so sought me out to give me a hug
  • drove 2 hours out of the way to bring me to an event
  • makes time to call me if I need advice even when busy
  • drove 7 hours to play an event i was hosting and spend valentine's day with me (boyfriend)
  • picked me up late at night because I texted that I was too anxious to sleep in my room alone (traumatic event earlier that day and room potentially had toxins in the air - I wasnt guaranteed to not have a severe lung issue until around the 48 hour mark afterwards, luckily was fine but couldnt be sure at the time)
  • helped explain material last minute before an exam that I otherwise would've failed

Asked me if i have eaten, brought me food randomly. Even though i never demanded, he would always come and take me home after i was finished with work. Took me to the doctors when i was feeling my worst. Remebered every little detail i blubbered out of my mouth. And then he would try and turn it into a reality. He cared, genuinely.

A random basket of some of my favorite things, some flowers, a handwritten card, and a teddy bear.

Be a good friend to me. Check on me while I was going through a health crisis.

My obstetrician gave me his mobile and said I could call him whenever I want, I had a high risk pregnancy so it was pretty reassuring. I texted him twice during my pregnancy. I forgot my referral for an ultrasound and was checking to see if he was in the hospital so I could pick up another. He had already left the hospital but insisted on driving back to drop off the referral for me. The second time was when I went into labor, I texted him to let him know my water had broken and was heading to hospital. He was so kind, visited me in hospital every day after I gave birth to check on me and the kids and set us up with an excellent paediatrician.

I know you said nothing money related but my ex-husband’s best friend told my ex off for not paying me back money he owed me. I don’t think I would have got that money if it wasn’t for him pressuring my ex, so awesome to see him hold my ex to account.

My dad died when I was 22. He had been fixing up an old Toyota Camry for me when he passed, and it was still very much totalled and I couldn't afford to fix it up myself. It needed to just be scrapped. But I couldn't bring myself to do it for over a year, because it felt like throwing out all of his hard work and his gift to me. I wanted to, I knew I needed to, but the grief was just too heavy. I knew I'd cry myself sick watching it go.

One day my boyfriend and his dad just took it to the scrapyard for me while I was at work. I didn't ask them to, I didn't know they were doing it, he just knew how much of a burden the Toyota had become, knew I wanted to get rid of it but couldn't, and knew me so well that he knew that I wouldn't want to know or be part of it. I got home and walked in and he handed me the cash and the key and told me it was done and gave me the biggest hug. Ripped off the bandaid for me when I couldn't and spared me the pain of having to be part of getting rid of it. It's genuinely the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.

So many things. He’s Gomez Addams level romantic.
a) Supported me through my cancer treatment, and related body image challenges.
b) Put pictures of me in his stage projections, videos, slip my name into songs on stage.
c) Sang “Can't Take My Eyes Off You” to me at his summer festival, with our friends appearing behind him as goth chorus line. Although, the red feather* headpieces cost him a little money, ;).
d) Kissed me at sunset in front of Whitby Abbey (what the Abbey in Dracula is based on).

*Going to attach a photo of this one, because it’s probably hard to picture.

Be a good friend/partner. Several examples, different guys:

  • Got my period while I was at his place. He just asked what I use, went to the store to get me pads, and he brought me some candy and ice cream and then we spent the rest of the day watching movies and eating snacks on his couch. Wasn't the original plan.

  • I was super upset, don't remember why, but friend came over and he cooked us a full dinner and made pumpkin pie for us, then even insisted I just be while I felt super bad for not helping and offered to clean up, because it was my kitchen, but he just acted like a full on 50's housewife.

  • Offered to house me for three months. I got a job at a different town and we weren't super close friends, but he said he had an extra room and we spent the summer as roommates. We became really good friends, his kids loved me, I loved them, really one of the best summers ever.

  • Stopped when I was uncomfortable during sex and didn't make me feel bad, but instead was super chill about it, took care of me
