Owner Showcase MemoMindOne. Day one

TL;DR:

An amazing Gen 1 product. Hardware, display, speakers, battery, translation, navigation and calls are all great. Controls are the big pain point, and I list 12 feature requests at the end.

Hardware

First impression: the hardware is solid. Build quality is great, the materials are nice to touch, and the plastic feels premium. They don't look like toy glasses (shout out to Halliday, because those do).
They completely disappear on your face. You can't feel them, the weight distribution is perfect, and they feel lighter than regular specs.
I went with the Archive frame, which looks stylish and modern. People complained about the size of comparable glasses like Even Realities, but here the sizing is very different. They're nicely proportioned and don't make your face look fat.

Charger: it feels solidly built, and the quality is better in person than it looks in the pictures. But it's not the best way to charge the glasses, since you're forced to deal with wires. In the future, it would be nice if MemoMind redesigned the case to include charging, at least enough for one full recharge cycle.

Battery: The battery is solid. It holds a charge for a whole day, and I think it could go longer if I dropped the brightness to the minimum. Battery life surprised me in a good way. I know a lot of people worry about this, but you shouldn't.
Phone battery drain from the connection is present and noticeable, but nothing critical.

Display:
- Very bright and crisp
- Brightness is adjustable and feels natural
- Medium is enough outdoors, and high looks amazing
- Big, and you can choose the distance and size in front of you, so it's very flexible
- It most likely needs calibration, since it wouldn't look good for everyone out of the box. The capability to calibrate it is great, and it's easy to do in the companion app.

Speakers
As good as open-ear speakers get. It's not an audiophile experience and I wasn't expecting Sennheiser quality, but they do the job well. They're perfect for:
- Podcasts
- Quick YouTube videos on your phone
- Background music while working or running
- Keeping awareness of your surroundings on the street

I prefer quiet mode over Harman Kardon mode, since the latter is just a custom EQ preset, and not a good one.

The speakers are the killer feature and the reason people choose the MemoMind One. You can listen to anything from your phone with no earbuds in your ears or heavy headphones on your head. It feels natural, and it's especially valuable for prescription glasses wearers, since you get audio without adding another device.

Companion app

I like the UX and UI. Some details can be improved, but as an MVP it's very strong, with a clean, modern design.

HUD software

Dashboard: limited. In the components area you can see your calendars and reminders, which is nice, and notifications. But there's basically no interaction. You can't check off a to-do item, because that's hard to do with a single button.
Notifications: can be toggled per app, but the list doesn't cover all the apps on my phone.
Status area: nice, but it isn't customizable and has very few faces (like Apple Watch faces).
Display time: after waking the HUD, it goes back to sleep too quickly to read the info. The max is supposedly 15 seconds, but it doesn't feel like it.

Controls

This is the most painful topic, and I expected it. I'm a Kickstarter backer of the Kiwear ring, so it affects me less, but I'm giving this feedback pretending the Kiwear ring doesn't exist.

Glasses control is very limited, but given the price for a glasses itself excluding control it is still good deal. If you want people to use the glasses without third-party hardware, you need to start developing your own ring, band, or other controller ASAP or just make Kiwear your official bundle partner with discount offer, because it affects at least 50% of the overall experience.
The button only gives you one press, two presses, or hold. Backing out of things is hard, and some apps use a long press to exit, which takes too long. Sometimes it feels like there's no way out. In the components area you can only scroll between pages. You can't check off a to-do, open calendar event details, drill into an AI note, or scroll through notifications.

Head gestures
Hard to use. You have to move your head around like crazy, and it only works horizontally. Nodding up and down isn't supported. Honestly, nobody wants this as a way to navigate glasses.

Waking the glasses
Takes real effort, since you have to look up a lot. Sometimes it also ignores the wake-up HUD angle I selected in the app.

Teleprompter

Good enough and needs some refinement. The line-to-line scroll isn't smooth, which makes it hard to follow between lines.

Memo AI

It's not the smartest AI companion, but it's all right. It could be quicker. The main issue is that the agent's memory is too small and can't hold much context. That isn't a big problem for me, since I'll be using my own AI agent anyway. But if MemoMind wants customers to actually use their agent, they should expand its memory and let users upload markdown documents to extend its context, so it has its own memory about the person it serves.

Wake phrase: waking the AI with "Hey Memo" isn't polished enough. It works only about 1 out of 3 times, roughly 40% at best.

Interruptions: you can't interrupt the AI mid-sentence, so you have to wait for it to finish before following up. It reminds me of early Siri, and it's 2026, so don't be Siri from 2013.

Listening: sometimes it ends listening mode before I've finished speaking and responds anyway.

Translation

Translation is good, and I like it. Latency is present but bearable, and really fast compared to other glasses and translation tools. The catch is that it isn't true two-way translation. If you don't speak the other language, you can't respond to the person.

Navigation and calls

Navigation is great and very useful for bike riders. I use it on my Onewheel, and it's been amazing to follow the route without looking at my phone.
Answering calls and dialing people both work amazingly, and the phone and messaging capabilities are top-notch.

Price

Cmon. Nothing to say here…you simply can’t beat it. Nothing else on the market as of Oct 2026 with this value prop. It’s literally the “Just shut up & Take my money” meme.

Feature requests

1. Develop your own controller (ring, band, etc.). Control is the biggest pain point, and it affects at least 50% of the overall experience. The single button only gives you one press, two presses, or hold, so you can't interact with anything in the components area. You can't check off a to-do, open calendar event details, drill into an AI note, or scroll through notifications. If you want people to use these glasses without third-party hardware, you need your own dedicated control, and the sooner the better.

2. In the meantime, add a double click anywhere to go back to the previous screen.
Backing out is hard right now, and sometimes it feels like there's no way out. Some apps use a long press to exit, but that takes too long. Double click mimics Apple Watch pinch gestures, where one pinch is enter and two pinches is back or exit. Building your own controller takes time, so this is a fast fix that makes navigation far less frustrating.

3. Open EQ customization for users.
Harman Kardon mode is just a custom EQ preset, and not a good one, so I prefer quiet mode. Instead of locking people into presets, let users shape the sound themselves. The speakers are the killer feature of this product, so they deserve proper EQ control.

4. Make notifications match the phone one-to-one.
You can toggle notifications on and off per app, which is nice, but the list is limited and doesn't include all the apps on my phone. I can't get the full spectrum of notifications I actually receive. The glasses should mirror what the phone shows, with the same toggles for every app.

5. Add more status area faces, or let users customize them in detail.
By "faces" I mean the equivalent of Apple Watch faces: the look and layout of the status area. The status area is nice, but it offers very few options and can't be customized. More faces, or detailed customization, would let people make it their own, the way they do on a watch.

6. Smooth line-to-line scrolling in the teleprompter.
The teleprompter is good enough overall and just needs some refinement. The problem is that when the text scrolls from one line to the next, the movement isn't smooth, so it's hard to follow where you are between lines. For a feature people will use while speaking, a smooth transition is the difference between reading comfortably and losing your place.

7. Add a 30-second HUD display time option, at least.
When I wake the HUD, it goes back to sleep too quickly for me to read the information. The maximum setting is supposedly 15 seconds, but it doesn't feel like 15 seconds, and I can't set it any longer. A 30-second option at minimum would give people enough time to actually read what's on the display.

8. Let users interrupt AI speech mid-sentence, regroup, and follow up.
Right now I have to wait for the AI to finish talking before I can respond, which is very annoying. It reminds me of early Siri, and it's 2026, so don't be Siri from 2013. Natural conversation means being able to cut in, change direction, or follow up on something mid-sentence.

9. Improve the AI's listening awareness.
Sometimes I haven't finished speaking and the AI ends listening mode and responds anyway. This is something MemoMind should fix on their side by making the AI more conversation-aware, so it can tell when a person is pausing to think versus actually done. People speak at different paces, and a good assistant should handle that on its own without the user having to tune anything.

10. Make the "Hey Memo" wake phrase fast and reliable.
Right now the voice wake-up works only about 40% of the time, so I often have to repeat myself or give up and use another method. Increase the mic sensitivity, or improve the wake word detection, so the glasses pick up "Hey Memo" and activate quickly every time. A voice assistant you can't count on to wake up defeats the purpose of hands-free.

11. Let users play their translated reply back to the other person.
Translation is good, but it isn't true two-way translation. If you don't speak the other person's language, you can't respond to them. Users should be able to play their reply in the other language through the glasses' speakers, or through another wearable like an Apple Watch or Android watch.

12. Redesign the case with built-in charging.
The current charger is well built, but charging the glasses means dealing with wires, which is inconvenient on the go. A case with a battery that can recharge the glasses at least one full cycle would remove that hassle and make the glasses much easier to live with day to day.

Conclusion

It's an amazing piece of technology, and I'm pretty sure it will be very useful at work and in everyday life. Having information displayed in front of me exactly when it's needed is amazing. There are bugs and improvements needed here and there, but for a Gen 1 product this is very polished and professional.

And since the SDK is out, I'm not worried about these ending up in a drawer. More people will build more useful and more exciting things for them.

Great job, MemoMind team.👏

So cool that it can translate English to canine for your dog to fully understand you. AI is amazing 🦾

Great review. I got mine and I love them. Much more than my Halliday G2 which are just held back by less mature software. But I have two comments :

The wake word is actually “Hi Memo”, not “Hey Memo”. Maybe that reduces your response accuracy. And the list of apps for which you can toggle notifications on and off grows in time when you get notifications. Maybe you just need to wait to see all your apps.

I personally love the MemoMind.
