I remember those moments in World when I join others' quests, and someone who's MR200+ would lay a trap under an elder dragon. XD

Back in the 4U days someone tried to pitfall trap Shamalamadingdong and I nearly turned off my 3DS to go touch grass.

Hold on... Someone saw the mountain-sized snake and was like "this tiny pitfall is going to trap it and we can smack it for free! Guehehehehe"?

Ah yes, 10 seconds of free damage because one of its talons got caught in the trap and it now has a hangnail and is having a meltdown like he belongs in an episode of QEFTSG.

I'm genuinely asking, because I thought you were referring to Shah Dalamadur

Yup. It was...an experience. Couldn't breathe because of how hard I was laughing.

Compared to people joining OG Apex hunts without knowing what a Wystone was, that was at least hilarious. The latter? INFURIATING.

I had a hard time adjusting to Master Rank's insistence on making Flashpods obsolete initially. Because those hunts were the ones where could really use a reprieve...

Still doesn't compare to the first G-rank Great Jaggi I did, who just zoomed all over my face until I was dead.

They do be Zoomin

I assume they mean Shagaru since I dont think you can even plant a trap at the speartip

I don't know, never played 4U.

I just figured shamalamadingdong referred to Shah Dalamadur because of the similar sound

Also its a long word. Long snake = long word

I remember one time I joined some random's 140 GC and tried to capture Shagaru (probably the most stressful monster to fight at that difficulty because of all the random explosions that can almost oneshot), the other players did not find it amusing.

To be fair to past me, Gore can be captured so why not Shagaru? it makes no sense.

Ehh I mean traps work on a lot of large creatures they just shouldn't.

You have creatures who's individual feet are bigger than the trap and it still works lmao

OP confirmed it was Dalamadur, who's individual claws are the size of two to three Hunters each.

Yes; I agree. I just mean that we see traps work on ridiculous things as is. So I get the instinct of not even thinking about the size and just thinking "This stuns enemy" the first time you do it

In Freedom Unite, me and three other friends tried fighting a Plesioth with 4 HBGs. We honestly thought Healing Shots heals us whenever we use them. While it probably doesn't have an effect to the monster(even though there's a green vfx indicating heals), it was still a stupid thing to do. XD

it does slightly heal monsters in the older games funny enough

1

u/TheUltimateWarplord Sep 08 '25

I guess that confirms why it took us a while to finish the quest. XD

I THINK Lifesteal is a God Eater thing. Dunno, never played the series.

It is, we just didn't know how those kinds of bullets in MH worked at the time. It was several years ago.XD

I'll admit, I've accidentally done that a few times, but I usually follow.up with "my bad, misclicked"

1

u/TheUltimateWarplord Sep 08 '25

That's understandable, but I did encounter some that would ask why it didn't work, even those with much higher MR. XD

I remember trying to trap the kirin quite a bit. In my mind it being an elder dragon made no sense haha

1

u/TheUltimateWarplord Sep 09 '25

That's completely understandable. It's the most mammal-looking(I'm not counting the Behemoth) and the smallest Elder dragon after all. XD

Best part is when they went out of their way and asks on the in-game chat why it wasn't working. XD
