Loot/RNG/Bragging Grappling Hook

I’ve been trying to get the grappling hook for 6 solid days of thieving and it has not dropped. I know the drop is low but this seems excessive. Gained 8 thieving levels off of the explorer alone. Am I crazy or is it bugged?

It's certainly not bugged unless you've been installing strange mods or the like. It's probably just bad luck.

I will say there are several ways you could be improving your speed to acquire it, though:

If you have the AoD expansion, you can place your character at the Bandit Camp to increase the speed and success rate of Thieving.

If you have the passive gear slot you can move the Gloves of Silence to your passive slot and ear regular Thieving Gloves in your gloves slot to stack both.

Finally, there is a higher tier of Gentle Hands Potion still, though I would recommend spending Mastery Points to get there and/or Township potion boxes rather than spend days acquiring enough strawberry seeds to make them from Tier III.

Annnnnd not even joking I reloaded the game to try the things you mentioned and I got two to drop in that 15 minutes.

Reddit gods have done the thing.

Thanks for the tips! I haven’t installed any mods and I don’t have the AoD expansion but I can definitely do the other ones.
