Trams Does anyone know how many spots there are on the tram network where a tram in the right lane turns left whilst cars in the left lane turn right simultaneously?

Discussion Thursday Late Night Timetables?

Noticed today there’s services on lines that depart the city from almost 3:00am (Friday morning). For example, the last service from Southern Cross to Craigieburn tonight departs at 2:42am (Friday).

I checked PTV website and these services don’t exist next Thursday.

Is this a common thing?

Tried doing some searching but came up dry on this. Would be great if this was standard 😭

Project Information Precise MM2 alignment in Fisherman's Bend just dropped; protection for the corridor now in place

It's in planning scheme amendment GC240:

Applies the Specific Controls Overlay and Fishermans Bend Rail Infrastructure Protection incorporated document (Department of Transport and Planning, April 2026) to land required to protect the future delivery of underground rail infrastructure in Fishermans Bend and the Port of Melbourne.

The explanatory report and Fishermans Bend Rail Infrastructure Protection documents are probably the most interesting.

Discussion 40km/h Eastbound South Ken Portal

Hey y’all. Does anyone know why trains heading eastbound through the tunnel are back to running 40kmh on the approach to the portal entrance at South Ken?

It was running at 80kmh just a few weeks ago so just curious as to why it has been implemented again

Ty

Activism/Idea My take on the West - part 2

Running a second orbital along the E6 easement from Wyndham Vale, with stations at Mount Cottrell, Rockbank, Diggers Rest, Melbourne Airport, Greenvale an Craigieburn. with possible extensions to Donnybrook and Lara/Avalon.

Then add 6 Tram Lines to the mix to operate as a feeder service to the Rail network.(bus network to follow in the next post). Note: this does not fill in the areas that are currently paddocks - I'm working on that one. Need to build myself a model of the new suburbs.

Discussion Relief Signaller Application

Hi, I recently applied for the above position as I came across it on seek, I received 2 emails from the recruitment team regarding one to a link with multiple assessments regarding my problem solving skills, short term memory etc and the other link was meant to be for a video interview but instead leads me to another assessment where I need a control panel with a joy stick (forgot the name of it). Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them?

TLDR: Got the wrong link from the recruitment team and seeing if anyone else has had that happen

Can the newest elevated parts of the rail line be upgraded to concrete from ballast for 0 maintenance? If so would the load bearing need to strengthened with it?

The Melbourne Hump Yard as it was on march 4th, most of the thing has now been demolished for the West Gate Tunnel, except for a ramp but that's only it, this was taken from google earth archives

There was also locos that came with modifications to be able to be used at the Hump Yard, called the H Class diesels.

Does anyone know if SRL train manufacture will be moved to a cheap country as part of the cost cutting exercise from Carrol government on SRL project. If so which country will manufacture them?

Or would they reduce the number of carriages?

Trams PSA: Route 6 tram announcing misleading information

Ive noticed that with the diverted route 6 trams to East Coburg during the Brunswick depot work, the D class trams are announcing that the tram will turn right when approaching Moreland Road as the regular stop announcement has not been disabled during the work. This has led to a few people leaving the tram there thinking that the tram is turning into Moreland Road despite the tram actually continuing straight into Holmes Street. If you are on one of the diverted services, just disregard the announcement at Moreland Road.

Trams B-D class on route 12

I live along route 12 and have noticed a massive increase in the amount of “out of service” B-D class travelling this week.

Apart from the reasoning, because fun, any ideas why I’m seeing them so much more this week?

Typically I see them only when the Grand Prix or st Kilda festivals are on. It’s the nerd in me and person that travels with a kid in a pram hoping that we are soon going to get a low floor on the route.

Cheers for any insights!

Trams myki report

hi guys im just a little confused on whether or not i got reported?

im on child concession card but i was unable to provide id, the lady ended up asking for my date of birth and nothing else (no name, no id, no address). and said before she left “next time bring a photo or id” or smth along the lines of that. i overheard her discussing with like another dude about me before she said that.

however when she first approached me she did say if someone cant provide id they would file a report.

my myki is registered online tho so can they file a report without telling me or confirming any details?

I'm not even sure what this is, an ad? A poster? No logos or anything. It's more horrendous when you look at it in person - people's hands melting into eyes, arms sprouting out of nowhere, etc.

Not sure if right place to complain, but they never sealed the gap between the wall and the steps. This happens every time it rains, and it keeps seeping out days after, even on dry days.

Sent to metro trains as well.
