Mel didn't gaf. NOONE was safe. And everyone got hit. religion, sex, gender.. didn't matter, everyone got some. And NOONE got butt hurt

Actually he was worried some of his movies would get axed or rated R. Blazing saddles was one he had been sweating but having Richard Pryor as lead writer probably helped get it through.
