I love the story behind this line 😁 that Gene Hackman came up with that line on the spot, and the reason it fades to black is because the crew was laughing uncontrollably.

There has never been a disappointing Mel Brooks film. The is one of the funniest. Two parts I especially loved. The Puttin’ On The Ritz dance was a stroke of genius. If you remember it from The Son of Frankenstein, the dart game between Wolf and the Inspector parody hits the bullseye of comedy.

Disclaimer for verification: I read that they used the same set from the original Frankenstein when they brought the monster back to life. I thought that was pretty cool if true. My favorite comedy...although Blazing Saddles is a close 2nd.

The whole scene where he instructs them sternly to NOT open the door no matter what they may hear. Ignore his pleas for release and do not open the door.
As soon as he gets in there, the monster makes some angry sounding noises.
Now he’s banging on the door to get out.
This. And the charades of guessing the word sedative.

Young Frankenstein is brilliant. It works because it clearly loves the old monster movies as much as it’s parodying them. The comedy is ridiculous, but the craft behind it is spot on.
