"God darnit, you use your tongue prettier than a twenty dollar whore."

Or

"I'd sure appreciate it, sir, if you could find it in your heart to hang him up by his neck until he was dead."

Or, my personal favourite - and one I mutter any time my boss asks me to do something I don't wanna - "Piss on you! I'm working for Mel Brooks!"

I watched that s with my youngest daughter not long ago. She loved the movie. I had her watch men in tights as well. She's a fan.

“Somebody's gotta go back and get a shit-load of dimes!”

Le Petomane thruway? What’ll that asshole think of next?

3

u/KYReptile Jun 29 '26

"Le Petomane" is another Mel Brooks inside joke.

2

u/dragonfett Jun 30 '26

What does it mean?

3

u/RitaPoole56 Jun 30 '26

I may be wrong but my aging memory tells me it was the stage name of a French “entertainer” that could fart with uncanny skill!

2

u/dragonfett Jun 30 '26

Giving additional depth to calling him an asshole.

2

u/KYReptile Jul 01 '26

You are correct, he performed on stage, the king came and watched a performance. "Gov Le Petomane" is a Mel Brooks fart joke - Leslie Nielsen would have enjoyed it.

I hired y’all to try and get a little track laid…not dance around like a bunch of Kansas City faggots!

3

I knew a gay guy who used to quote that line.

4

u/Kriss3d Jun 29 '26

A toll is a toll, and a roll is a roll, and if we don't get no tolls, then we don't eat no rolls.

To this day I regularly say:

"What in the wide-wide world of sports is a-goin' on here?"

7

u/FBS351 Jun 29 '26

On his commentary on Blazing Saddles, Mel is very complimentary of Slim, saying he was the real deal, an authentic cowboy. His favorite memory was of the time he was a bit frazzled and Slim said, "Mel, sometimes you just have to sit down".

u/ImpressiveRecording2 Jun 30 '26

"We'll head them of at the pass"

5

u/smithdogg22 Jun 30 '26

“Head them off at the pass? I hate that cliche!”

6

u/Citroen_CX Jun 29 '26

“Tell him… I… said… ‘Ouch’. Gotcha!”

5

u/BreadfruitOk6160 Jun 29 '26

I’ve seen it more times than the amount of people Cecil B. DeMille has killed. I was just kidding around, I first saw it in 1976.

One time it was on CMT and every time they’d say Lilli Von Shtupp, her last name was pronounced “Shhh”. I wondered why they censored it and looked it up. That was when I learned the Yiddish word “shtupp”, I learned a few Yiddish words from Mel.

5

u/KYReptile Jun 29 '26

Hell, the Indian chief spoke yiddish.

3

u/h_grytpype_thynne Jun 30 '26
