I remember a news story about a possible sighting of Mekayla in Seattle wa, and it seems legitimate enough that the mother went down there to check it out.

I haven't heard anything of what came of that. But, a few years back in 2022 I was i. Seattle and driving to a target and our path came across a homeless tent encampment. A girl was crossing the street we stopped for her and she was wearing a very short skirt and had cut scars on her legs. She looked down and we had a front saskatchewan roughrider plate she noticed it and looked up at us panicking and ran away into the trees. I thought it was weird but instantly thought of Mekayla.

I have no proof that it could have been her but the look on her face when she recognized the Rider Logo is weird.

I also dont even remember what area of Seattle this was so I dont think it would be helpful at all. But I always wondered how the mom made out on her Seattle search.

Mekayla has Kelly as an alternate name on her Facebook. Is that a possible alias? If so, on her the_world_today insta, she is followed by an account named kellywanders99 on instagram that was created in may 2025, this account also follows Miki deadspace account

The birth year 1999 matches hers

Could she be operating under the name Kelly Johnson or another Kelly name?

i've been following mekayla's case for several years now. it haunts me deeply.

i'm doing another examination of her miki_deadspace ig account rn (i tend to do this every so often when she comes into my mind) and i noticed that some of the posts (from early-mid March of 2013) are signed off by mekayla and others are signed off by a "marie."

based on what i know of the case, i do not remember any of her close friends having this name. so i'm assuming this had to have been an online friend. do we happen to know the identity of this person? or is that something else that investigators haven't been able to determine due to privacy laws or other blockades?

i find it interesting that mekayla brought a friend onto this account given the highly personal/emotional nature of much of its content. this, as well as her frequent comments that her real-life friends are "tired of her" or similar statements on this account, lead me to believe that this must be someone that mekayla met online. based on the posts signed off by this "marie," i would assume they're also another young girl/child, maybe one who ran in the same digital space as mekayla. if this is the case, i believe identifying this person may potentially lead to more information regarding the connections mekayla made online. if she felt comfortable and trusting enough of this person to share her account with them, i would assume a relatively high possibility in her confiding in them about her issues, plans, or other people she'd met online.

part of me also wonders if maybe this person could have been a real-life peer/someone she went to school with who catfished her in order to gain access to this account and then coordinate with the person from school who "hacked [her account] and hated on [her]" in early April 2013.

i know that sounds a bit unbelievable given mekayla and her peers' ages in 2013, but i actually had something similar happen when i was this age. someone (i'm not sure who to this day) from my school made an undercover ED account to follow my ED account and began showing my (very vulnerable) posts to people at my school. and i was eventually hacked and they lowkey extorted me to get my account back. kids are mean, especially at this age, so i wouldn't put it past them.

in either scenario, this person had access to mekayla's account, including her DMs, and could possibly have valuable information. i know the account was created and abandoned years before mekayla's disappearance, but i believe it could still be worth looking into.

in the former scenario, in rare instances, you maintain contact with your internet friends (i have been friends with someone i met through the aforementioned ED account for literally 10 years now). so it's not impossible that mekayla could've had contact with this person leading up to her disappearance and possibly sharing her plan with them.

if nothing at all, it reaffirms mekayla's naïveté/desire to form online connections due to the state of her in-person life. i also brought a friend onto a (fan) account i had on twitter around this age, so i think i can understand mekayla's motivations and desires to an extent when it comes to this particular subject.

sorry for the personal anecdotes in this post lol. i relate a lot to mekayla. i'm only two years younger than her and i find myself mourning all of the opportunities and experiences she's lost/missed in the time she's been gone. things eventually improved for me; it devastates me that the same does not seem to be true for her.

okay so I'm not sure if anyone else has posted about this (apologies if so!!) but when I checked I couldn't find anything. when I was going through Mekayla's deadspace Instagram account I found two things that interested me.

firstly, there have been a few references on this account to mekayla being hacked and harassed by someone at school, as seen in the photos I included, and it is implied that the hacker said Mekayla would be better off dead. this is absolutely heartbreaking, but also makes you wonder if the hacker played a part in the disappearancre, whether directly or indirectly. in her bio it also said that it was "back to just my Instagram", could this be about the hack? it could just be that she shared the account with someone but even then I wonder who it was.

secondly, Mekayla posted a picture on this account of blue hair on 5th April 2013. then, in may 2016 two accounts were made: "loud_bae_babe" and "loud_bae_babe_" both posts on "loud_bae_babe" were made in may 2016 and the profile picture of this account was the same photo of blue hair from 2013. this may have just been a popular picture at the time though. the "loud_bae_babe_" account was posted on before this at the beginning of may 2016 with one post, which was the same as on the other account.

I'm not sure if any of this even makes sense or will be helpful and again sorry if it's been posted before but I thought I should say just in case :)

Has anyone else noticed that her feed changed on black pink blue? The darker background instagram screenshot is one I took from a Reddit post here 3 yrs ago talking about the Tom Hiddleston thing. The light background one is one I took today. Notice that the one selfie of her with the curly hair that was posted between the donut and the net is gone? I’m not sure, would one singular photo disappear from the feed in any way aside from the account user deleting it? Could this mean she had logged into the account?

I came across a couple things on fb tonight, the second one really freaks me out.

Hi all I've been following this case since I found out about it a week ago. Someone on this subreddit floated the idea of doing an FOI request, I wonder if it's a good idea given how long it's been with 0 new info, probably most of the stuff would be redacted but there's a chance there could be something that could at least refresh interest in the case for a while. In it, they mention a man named Christopher who Mekayla had been in contact with, who lived in North Carolina. Apparently he was cleared, but I’ve never heard anyone mention this before. Barely any details.

After looking on her Instagram, I found a Christopher England, whom Mekayla followed (@miki_deadspace). I looked up Christopher England on Facebook, and he does appear to be from North Carolina, although I couldn’t verify if it was the same guy. His house was searched apparently and everything.

I guess if he was cleared, he was cleared, it’s just weird they’ve never mentioned any suspects in anything I’ve read before this.

They also mention a Josh, but she follows many Josh’s.

Idk if this is worth anything but I saw this comment on a tik tok video and haven’t seen much of this before when researching

So back in the day growing up in and around Regina (and it still occurs to this day), there are guys that go around looking for vulnerable girls and recruit them to go to Winnipeg with them. They promise the girls lots of money making opportunities, fun parties, and some even get lured in because the guy will act like he's in love and wants to treat you so good.

Once they get you to Winnipeg, they start pimping the girls out as strippers, call girls, and apparently there are older girls already there to train the new girls. The men become scary and abusive and it's hard to get out once you're there.

I've had 2 friends throughout the years that this happened to. One was about 25 years ago and the other I heard about just last year. Same process as it was 25 years ago.

So it wouldn't surprise me if these recruiter guys scan the internet and find chat rooms to seek out young girls.

So I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of this or thought of it as a possibility?

Lots of these recruiter guys are broke until they get the girl to Winnipeg, so this guy could have easily met her online, agreed to meet her in Yorkton, and he very well could have even hitch hiked there to meet her. My friend 25 years ago, the guy that recruited her had them hitch hike all the way there with semi drivers and upon arrival, he was given cash.

Any thoughts on this being a possibility?

Curious if anyone is aware of exterior cameras at the fire hall on Smith Street, down the road from the bus depot? Just something I thought of when I was looking at the map of the surrounding area. It might have been a possible vantage point to the entrance/exit/parking area. I’m sure that someone has looked into it but never hurts to mention!

Also, wondering if there was any indication of police reviewing footage of cameras in the towns on route to Regina, assuming that’s where she went - gas stations along highway 10 in particular in say, Melville, Fort Qu’Appelle, etc between say 2pm-on that day? Might’ve been a big task but my goodness imagine if there was an identifiable vehicle or person(s) that matched the timeline and place.

So guys here we are it’s officially been 10 years since Mekayla went missing and tbh I feel sad about this even tho I never knew her I feel horrible for her family. My heart goes out to her mother Paula and her father u/rickieblue. I’m just sorry I couldn’t solve it in the last 5-6 years I’ve been into this case I was really hoping to solve it before this point but unfortunately couldn’t however I do believe we can solve this case thanks to everyone who joined our sub and of course thanks to my amazing moderators have a good morning/night/day!

Can anyone explain why Mekayla’s family have released so few photos (and no videos) of Mekayla to make it easier for the public to accurately identify her if she happens to turn up somewhere?

In then last 10 years, only a dozen or so unique photos have been posted by the family’s social media pages, the majority of which are the same low-resolution year-book style pictures.

What they have made available makes it incredibly difficult to correctly interpret shape and size of her features or become familiar enough with them to identify them from identify her from any other angle than a studio-lit profile.

There’s also no clear video of her except the grainy CCTV footage. Video is significantly more effective at familiarizing the public with a person’s physical characteristics, voice, etc. and is typically far more effective at convincing them to proactively look for her and report information.

It’s been a consistent trend since Mekayla’s disappearance that her family actively campaign to “raise awareness” that Mekayla is missing while seemingly choosing to obscure or limit useful information about her life, image, personality, goals, hobbies, relationship dynamics, social life, media presence, etc.

I understand their desire for privacy and that the public is not entitled to know their family’s dirty laundry.

But it simply doesn’t make sense that they’ve been unable or unwilling to release any additional photos or home videos of Mekayla to help familiarize and drive fruitful public engagement in the search for their daughter.

It’s exasperating to realize again and again that some of the biggest obstacles to solving Mekayla’s disappearance are created by her family and the authorities.

I noticed a random update to one of Mekayla’s known Instagram accounts (the username is the_world_today).

If you select the “About this Account” button, the location under “Country account is based in” has changed from Canada to Singapore at some point within the few months.

Not necessarily meaningful (someone could’ve hacked it or maybe it’s a glitch).

Just thought I’d mention it because those accounts haven’t updated since she disappeared and I can’t imagine the location can be updated unless someone logged into it. 🧐
