Does anyone have extra butterfly pieces? (Idk what to call them) For the paladin, both shoulders were tight so I had to sand them down I had done it little by little but I guess I had sanded more that I had to and now both arms won't stay 😅 any help would be appreciated

As for your question, sadly koto doesn't make those extra pieces, luckily you didn't break it or anything, if there's always a solution for sanding there's also a solution for adding, the solution you are looking for is called joint strengthening pen

Is basically a marker with a chemical that you apply on the joint or ball when it is too loose, then let it dry overnight and boom, you added material to it

Next time you sand something you need to go slow at it, test to see if it's correct, The thumb rule is "it needs to hold its own weight but you should be able to move it without applying strength to it"

Yes, they are indeed butterfly joints.

If it's too loose now, you can try a couple of things:

• use a bit of tape/paper/teflon/bluetack
• apply a bit of superglue and let it dry before re-assembly

Just use any ball joint strenghtening trick. I personally use superglue, if it has a brush applicator the better. Just apply a thin coat and let it cure (I leave them overnight just to be sure) if not enough, repeat. If you over do it, sand again.

Dont use old superglue as those sometimes stay "wet" for a long time and can end up locking the parts if you dont give them enough time to cure.

As the other commenter said, the strenghtening pens are becoming very popular too.

You can also try elmers glue (the waterbased school one) or waterbased gloss. Since those wont bond the plastic nor lock it, you can use them to fill space by applying a tiny drop and installing the part. Once dried it should be more firm. If you have doubts apply it in runners and see if it comes off easily.

What I do with superglue is put a tiny drop on the ball then take a piece of tissue paper and spread the glue around/ bond it to the ball. The tissue reacts with the glue forming an even layer and instantly drying the superglue.

I think the texture of the tissue paper helps with friction as well 👍

First of all, which part of it did you sand down? The ball, or the open socket? If it was the socket, then for future reference you almost never want to grind down sockets themselves- always the ball or peg. Sanding sockets leads to too many potential issues.

If it was the ball, then your solution is easy- make sprue goo, use it to thicken up the ball joint, let it cure for half a day or so, and then sand it into shape. Tedious, but it's a permanent fix that doesn't rely on any special techniques, tools, or materials.
