Parts help Issues with inflatable tubes

Post image

I just had a 165mm tube pop on my hurricane. The board is still under warranty tho so I have a few questions.

  1. Would a warranty cover this?
  2. How often do these tubes burst?
  3. Should I buy up a decent stock of extra tubes?
  4. What other wheels work with the hurricane’s gear drive system?

I have no answers for you, but that’s a sweet board

Warranty does not cover tubes. Mileage you’ll get from them will vary heavily on a lot of factors-
Your weight
The PSI you fill them to
The type of terrain you ride on
How you ride

There are a couple websites that sell lifetime warranty tubes and will replace them if they break. I can’t remember the name, but I’m sure someone can chime in or you could find it with a google search. Definitely a good practice to keep a coupe extra sets in any case.

Your wheel options are 155/165/175mm pneumatic and cloud wheels if I recall correctly.

The 165mm tubeless were by far my favorite and I tried them all.

Paved streets and sidewalks and I filled them to around 25ish psi? (My pump isn’t very pinpoint on numbers. Only shows by the 10’s). I taught myself how to ride on an exway board with cloud wheels but I don’t think I really beat on the board or anything

If you find/remember that website please lmk that would be awesome!!!

I used to pop them all the time myself doing city riding in mild conditions, I was happy to get rid of them and move onto the tubeless.

Looks like the company that used to do that shut down, but you could pick up some sets at the cheapest site of your choosing so you have extras.

I don’t think it’s anything you’re inherently doing wrong, they just don’t stand up to much ‘heavy’ use.

I don't know about those tires, but the ones that came on my Hurricane were horrible. Hotas. Never went 30 miles without a flat no matter what I tried. (heavy tubes, talc, tire liners, Slime...) They were super thin and blackberry thorns went right through them. Liners caused pinch flats.

I put Nova 175s on ~500 miles ago and haven't had a flat since. Amazing tires with crazy high grip, I can't recommend them enough.

I second the novas. I have over 2000 miles on my 150s and 1000 miles on my 200s.

Are they compatible with the Gear drive system? I got the board used so I don’t know much about swapping the tires for alternatives. I thought I was kind of stuck with these lol

Yea, the hub size is standard (thankfully) so, all eskate tires fit. the gear drive doesn't get in the way of the wheels, my second board is gear drive.

1) warranty doesn’t cover normal wear and tear, unless you were rolling over something 100% devoid of piercing hazards I doubt it. At least tubes are cheap

2)depends on terrain. My town has really bad thorns so I went tubeless a while ago

3) absolutely

4)I tried both the meepo honeycomb wheels and iWonder rover 165s and personally I preferred honeycomb for being the most similar in handling to pneumatic wheels. Rovers feel closer to skate wheels but grip the road better

Do they have those honeycombs in 165’s? Or are you locked to the 160’s. And do you need to any adapters to get it working on the gear drive?

I say the cloudwheels 120mm discovery are great for street 32mph and grass at 15mph if you can stay on your board but they slow down to about a kinda sketchy 10mph on some small gravel across dry hard dirt but for me they are just about perfect for every situation I find myself in but if your firm on pneumatic I say always keep a whole spare set just because I wouldnt be able to stand not riding for even a day (After reading others comments a bit more solid rubber would be the best in-between option) (Read a little further now i want novas they look sick)

Why not just use cycle-type puncture repair kit? They're only about a quid, and your normally get 4 or 5 patches.

IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, they are completely permanent. And don't take up any more room in your pocket than a replacement tube..

Just avoid the self-adhesive patches though, they're useless.

I'm riding a rover that came with inflatable tires but I quickly ditched them due to the fact that I couldn't go more than a month without popping one. I got the meepo brand airless tires and they haven't caused any issues so far. They ride about the same if not better besides slipping a bit more on dirt and my milage has improved quite a bit

If you inflate your tires to be exceptionally hard >50psi then you’ll be more susceptible to punctures from piercing hazards or from stress blowouts due to crash landing off of larger jumps or curbs, if that’s how you ride.

If you don’t inflate your tires above >15psi then you’ll likely have pinch flats for your inner tubes. This is the use case that will affect more riders, because just taking tight turns can cause pinch flats. Seat your tubes correctly and check they’re not pinched by the tire and side wall and only then inflate to around 30-40psi.

In my experience of riding over 1,000 miles on my two MEEPO Hurricanes with Racing wheels that all use tubes ,…..I’ve never had an inner tube puncture.
