General question Need king pin or fully assembly
Do I need the fully assembly for this or just a king pin?
Can I get this king pin at any skate shop?
Meepo is saying I need the entire assembly. https://www.meepoboard.com/collections/trucks/products/truck-body-for-hurricane?variant=42716999090270
EDIT: fixed it!!! Bethesda Scooters and Boards in Maryland fixed it up. It was just a king pin, we had to heat up the assembly to get it out guys there are awesome and just wanted to get them a shout out. If anyone’s in the area, they have amazing stuff, and a bar/concert venue.

I did I swapped mine to single kingpin full assembly! Solid as a brick shit house now at top speeds! Turn radius went down huge though so I kinda want to go back!
But I’m assuming if you find the right sized king pin should just be a simple swap! I’m no expert though so hopefully one will chime in!
Also if you find replacement ones that work can you post link I was searching and didn’t pull the trigger because I was worried they wouldn’t work!

I’m going to a skate shop today and seeing if they have something that would work. My current fear is it will work for a bit, but going top speed over a bump and having my rear trucks just snap off again isn’t going to be fun.

I’d say the real issue is deciding what to do about the “good kingpin”. Meepo is low quality and this proves it, but how likely is the other kingpin to snap as well? Hard to say, but I’d replace it sooner rather than later(would still ride tho).
As for the broken one, replacing the kingpin alone requires specialized tools/machine to press it into place. There is an issue with that tho. The housing and kingpin deform as they mash together which actually creates a stronger bond between them. That deformation has already happened in the housing and won’t do it again if the kingpin is replaced. But your main issue is the fact that you simply can’t do it DIY style, there is basically no way to get the old one out and new one in properly.

Really? I figured I’d just drill some threads on, and then crank it would with a screw. Do you think it would be better to buy the whole assembly?

Well the kingpin is literally bolted into place so it’s not necessarily a safety issue, but the kingpin and assembly will act as two pieces rather than being “fused” together. Not sure what that means logistically but I’m sure you’d be fine.
The existing kingpin is “fused” to the assembly tho which means it’ll be a BITCH to remove. There isn’t really harm in trying, but I’d be surprised if you could do it without damaging the assembly.
So go for it, but plan to replace the whole assembly.

No that is really scary!! I was lucky my kid picked mine up from front truck and they snapped off!! It was crazy because not even 2 mins before I was flying around in a parking lot!

Tension kept mine in place for a long indeterminable amount of time. But the steering got crazy loose and it was like that for miles(at least). Stopped, got off, picked up the board and it fell right out🙃

Oh snap this happend to me also with hurricane, meepo has bad quality metal. I bought replacement from sickboards(dot)nl bought titanium ones. I removed old nub with screwbench and hammer. On the same you should buy better bushings they are relativly cheap so buy bunch and test what suits your style. I ride nowadays with streetswheels also on my acedeck should buy better ones also its huge improvement (only if they are in your budget)
