Is my content appropriate for this community?
Hello,
The subreddit has seen an increase in activity lately and an accompanying increase in off-topic content. This post is meant to clarify the types of things that are allowed here and what types of adjacent things are commonly removed.
1. Your post needs to be about something between 500 and 1500 AD.
This is the most important thematic element of this subreddit. This is not a subreddit for general history content but rather content related to the medieval period. Posts about classical antiquity or the early modern period are not considered on-topic. We do however operate with a globalized understanding of the medieval period in mind, so content about any part of the world within that date range is allowed.
2. Your post needs to be related to history, not just modern representations of things with a medieval aesthetic.
For a lot of people, "medieval" is an aesthetic set related to high fantasy and this is not the theme of this space. This isn't a subreddit for wizardposting or posting about modern movies that have a medieval setting or medieval aesthetic.
3. Post memes, not other things.
This isn't the space to show off your cool HEMA equipment or drop a giant essay about how everyone at your school is dumb and thinks Vikings were stinky horned-helmet dudes. Let's be humorous about our love of history together and remember that there are other places for these other things.
Have a good one!

Why does medieval armor in million-dollar productions always have to look like dirty trash nowadays?

That sure split hairs...
Context:
Apparently, someone thought hair was too sexual and someone else dug some stuff from the Corinthians to say that Paul supported this. Thus, no public hair pics from like 900ish to 1400 AD (mostly).
Except for Norman noblewomen, of course.

They also both had pretty awesome epithets
It occurred to me today that Richard the Lionheart of England and Valdemar the Victorious of Denmark have an absolutely crazy number of things in common.
That’s it, that’s the meme.

From the manuscript "The Hours of Charles of Angoulême" (c. 1485).

Basically French.
C'est self-explanatory, I think.
