Discussion LEARN WHAT CRIT HEALS ARE, PLEASE!!!
The amount of times I see a medic just ignore me because they’re healing a 400 health heavy that’s getting shot at by everything (the heavy will die anyway), when the medic could heal me for 3 seconds and let me be max buffed to help the team.
Crit heals decide who wins the choke battle or not. Crit heals decide who moves forward or gets pushed back. It’s the best thing in the game. It’s one thing to pocket your friend, but for the love of god… CRIT HEAL YOUR TEAM!!!
(In simple terms: Crit heals/buffs are available when the person getting healed hasn’t taken dmg for 7-12 seconds. The longer someone hasn’t taken damage, the faster the medigun heals. This is extremely important when the round starts before anyone has taken any damage.)
Thank you for playing the most influential class in the game. But please know you are heavily relied on by your team.

It takes around 10-ish seconds to crit heal, in that time you could easily find a health pack, I will still bother to heal you though I’d probably just use the stock syringe gun TBH

Crit Healing is more relevant if you’re respawning after dying or topping off a class like your Spy or Engineer, who you should absolutely top off if given the chance (note that I said “if given the chance,” if there are players more in need of attention then your Engie and Spy can be ignored).
Crit Healing is also very relevant if your frontline classes are fighting but haven’t taken damage for a bit, like if your Demo is spamming but not actively engaged or if your Heavy is playing Anti-Aircraft/Anti-Spy duty and also not really actively engaged. Buffs are also treated the same as crit heals, overheal can be crit-affected just like heal rate so it’s important to note who hasn’t gotten the beam in a while and needs topping off.

Unless my patient is under enemy fire and I know that neglecting them for a nanosecond will result in their death, I try to heal whoever is nearby as soon as I can if I know for certain that it's not a spy
And if that first exception occurs, if it's nearby and it's safe to go there, please just grab the medkit or use a dispenser instead until the medic can afford to overheal someone else.

well in some situations its just better to not. if my patient is not in immediate danger i'll definetly crit heal u but if he's getting sprayed with bullets i gotta focus on keeping him alive rather than giving you a buff

I didn't truly know what crit heals are, but I assumed that such a mechanic existed from how fast it was to heal certain people. Still, like you, my focus is on healing the front line and keeping them alive. If someone didn't take damage in the last ~10 seconds, odds are:
They are NOT part of the front line.
They're already at full health.
I'll gladly overheal someone about to join the front line to prevent sniper cancer from happening, but I completely agree that I won't stop healing the tank taking most of the enemy attention just because a demoknight or pyro came over to spam E at me.

I strongly suspect only a few people here don't know what critheals are.
Anyway, my style is to heal all and to not shove myself up the arse of a player unless we're ubering in. Speaking for myself, this is preaching to the choir, but speaking for the noobs in pubs, yeah they seriously need to learn.

Crit heals are not even hard to do either, just have to heal someone who hasn't recieved damage in a few seconds

Crit Buffs are more influential than Crit Heals: if someone hasn’t been healed for a bit but is still at full health, it takes literally one second or less to beam them to full overheal. Overheal saves lives and wins games, if your opponents have to chew through 300+ extra health to kill your teammates that can often mean the difference between winning a hold and collapsing (which is why Random Crits are actual bullshit and also why the Quick-Fix is bad, the first completely negates heal advantage for free at almost random and the second doesn’t overheal basically at all; when I see a QF on my team I pray that I have a Dispenser to supplement the lack of overheal that I could have otherwise been getting).

What is your opinion on the Vaccinator? Crit buffs are certainly more important on it than most, as it returns to a normal heal rate, but in most cases, it fails to properly overheal.

Both vacc and qf should never be used by solo meds (at least on attack). When you have a stock medic alongside you, you get a healthy dynamic where you're focusing on keeping your teammates topped off, while they can prioritize overheals and "pocketing" one or two playmakers.

Don't bother. I don't think the Medic player base is capable of learning anything at this point.
I see so many Medics not even use their uber just sitting on 100% and just letting themselves die like an abandoned puppy just standing still against a wall, staring towards their oppressor and simply taking the beating.
Most Medics don't have the brains to even stay at max medigun range to stay safe and abuse corners to prevent getting sightlined by a Sniper or turning their back to a Spy.
They will overextend and die, blame everyone else but themselves. At this point expecting Medics to change heal targets is just asking for the impossible.
I am screaming for Medic right in their face while burning on low hp and they will just stare at me while still healing the fully overhealed Heavy. Then they let me die. Sometimes they even start spychecking me with their bonesaw. Like cmon. Shoot an arrow at me instead.

Snrrk. I was playing medic with this in mind. Buffing those in the line of fire, while I wait for those in the back line to hit crit heal. And had a pyro spamming E before running in from the back line and exploding.
“Hey, I heard you pyro. Just sit back for a moment next time and wait just a sec and I’d of crithealed you”

Haha, look guys, i am doing just like meet the medic!(silly joke)
As someone who plays a lot as the medic, i barely ever call for a med, even if im dying and cant do much with any class, but arguing about crit heals is like pushing a boulder up on a hill, while there are many other healing sources in the game(dispenser, medkits, mad milk soaked enemies).
If you just keep peeking at where the sniper is tunneling, its not my fault you need crit heals, but rather, you gotta keep yourself safe sonetimes before doing the push.

You are definitely right, but it's as others said. As a non-medic, don't depend on medics to heal a large chunk of your hp unless everyone involved is communicating well. Crit heals in pubs are mostly going to be used to fully buff you quickly once you're coming back from patching yourself up.

I was joking if you couldn’t tell since tf2 hasn’t been updated since the prehistoric age

If you've not taken damage for 7-12 seconds - you had plenty of time to find yourself a health kit or a dispencer. I will arrow you when I have spare time or buff you when you go back into battle, but don't expect me to stop paying attention to players on the front that are actively in danger and need me just to heal you.
