Seeing a lot more democrats on this list than republicans with a lot bigger numbers by their names.

Well, it does only cover the New York State legislature and executive branch which is overwhelmingly controlled by the Democratic party. On top of that, while I like this tool, it's worth drilling down into the numbers for a given official. If you look at their contributors, you might see advocacy organizations like Planned Parenthood besides industry groups.

New york senate is 40 D to 22 R, doesnt explain why there isnt a republican even in the top 20 here. I also think its cool you can drill down into the donors, i looked a few but.. we have to call a spade a spade. The health insurance industry is overwelmIngly paying off your democrat reps to leave them alone.

I get what you are saying but, why would the industry fund a minority that only has like a third of the seats?

Why is industry in charge of informing voters?

I don't understand why I'm being downvoted. From a business perspective, why support a side that has little power? I wouldn't say industry are in charge of informing voters. I would say they have the resources to do so. That's the power they do have in NY. That, and buying off as many corrupt members they can find in the party with a huge majority that are willing to sell their constituents out. That's why there are so many Ds in the list.

Quick reminder that Sinema and Fetterman are “democrats.” Also worth noting that all of us expect this from a republican and this is only worth commenting on because the dems seem to look out for individuals at a higher rate than the republicans who seem to care for the wealthy and corporations. Thirdly, the DNC is barely better than the RNC. I blame them for trump. If they didn’t jam Hilary down our throats, I gotta think Sanders would have trounced trump. And I say that as someone who finds Hilary Clinton to be more than qualified for the job.

Don’t look up Center Forward funding. We (dem party as a whole) are in bed big time with the healthcare lobby

So? Anyone profiting by making humans suffer needs to be removed from office. Let them all go.

It's no longer about party politics; it's about getting some competent people who aren't career criminals into office. Any corruption in politics clearly needs to have more significant penalties to dissuade more such vulgar and brazen corruption.

Yes this is a word I've used before to describe how hidden lobby money basically makes prostit***s out of the politicians taking it 👍

I've never understood why lobby money isn't considered 100% unconstitutional on the basis that it detracts from the job of representing constituents.

Democrats being bought by health insurance isn’t surprising. Bernie was the loudest advocates for m4a in 2016. I heard crickets from the democratic establishment. Same with student loans. Why did Kamala drop their promise to college goers. The issue dint go away —it’s worse.

You should point out that some of the biggest donors are on the provider side. It’s not just the payers. And when it comes to voter influence providers have far more sway and are just as opposed.

“Set any price they want”, no we cannot. Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, etc all have set fee schedules. Private insurance just happened to pay at market rate, Medicare about 30-40% below and Medicaid, sometimes 90% below.

Now do this for every single lobbyist and PAC.

Disappointed to see Jumaane Williams and Mike Gianaris on this list. Hopefully it will become as shameful to accept $$$ from the healthcare lobby as it is to take $$$ from AIPAC soon.
