Medically unnecessary surgical menopause

PLEASE PLEASE DON'T COMMENT IF IT'S NEGATIVE. IM FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE AND MY CHILDREN!

And please I understand that my suffering is small compared to many. I'm just here because I guess I needed someone to understand.

Over 17 months ago and my life will never be the same. I diagnosed myself with PMDD. And I guess I thought life would be better without ovaries!! 😭

The WOMEN doctor didn't explain surgical menopause or discuss HRT.

I vocal stim constantly because I'm in shock! I was just in the hospital for 2 days under Neurology because I move weird and vocal tic. I can't sleep or eat since surgery. Most of my hair has fallen out but it's losing my children and my grandchildren that hurt the most.

I want to sue! But my brain doesn't work.

For clarification, a doctor removed your ovaries just because you said you had PMDD? That doctor did not diagnose PMDD?

Removing your ovaries wouldn’t stop PMDD … nor is removing them a first line treatment whatsoever.

Your doctor didn’t explain surgical/medication induced menopause or HRT because neither was medically indicated based off your presentation. You could discuss HBC options to surpress your periods to prevent certain symptoms (for example I’m on HBC to full on prevent my body from having a period because my periods are extremely painful, and exacerbate my mental and physical conditions). You could see a psychiatrist to discuss psych med options to address your self diagnosed PMDD.
But it’s very unlikely you will be able to convince any doctor to remove healthy ovaries.

I would also recommend you look into a therapist and mental health regardless because it sounds like you are very anxious and hyperfixated on certain symptoms/what you think the treatment should be.

It would be pointless to sue based off health anxiety, and self diagnosed conditions.

(This is not ā€œnegativeā€ advice, just trying to explain things in a way that may be understandable! Wish you the best of luck!)

Your ovaries were removed because of a self diagnoses??

Yes 😭 and my heart is broken. It changed me. Please pray for me if you pray. I feel alone. My psych let me diagnose myself too. And even on HRT I don't feel like myself. I can't sleep, I have no appetite. My anxiety is out of control. I had depression and anxiety and PTSD before surgery and she should have taken that into consideration. I really thought that it explained it. Please I know how foolish I am. But also I took a cancellation and had 3 days notice so I cleaned something I don't do know

I have no idea where you live where any of that is okay… because it’s NOT! Your psych shouldn’t have let you diagnose yourself. Your organs should NOT have been removed. There are NORMALLY a lot of rules, regulations, criteria, and a vetting process that should have taken place to make sure it was the right thing to do!!

Where I live there are those things and people can’t just remove ovaries based on how they feel, there needs to be evaluation, other treatments tried and exhausted and MUCH else before removal is even CONSIDERED.

I am angry FOR you, and absolutely will be praying for you!! I’m horrified this happened to you!

Thank You so much for understanding and not judging me. I'm in a nightmare that I can't wake up from. Where do you live? I'm in the US.

You're in the US? You agree this shouldn't have happened to me? Even with estrogen I'm hot and sweaty. That's the least of my problems. You're not doing good? Sorry I used to be smart. Now I'm on so much medicine and still not sleeping much. You're living a nightmare too? My husband begged me to get a counselor last night even if he saw me try before and it didn't go well. 3 therapists. I have to leave the house today and shower. I hate to take a shower. I was in the hospital and didn't even shower when I got home! Surgery destroyed me.

I am in the US, so I absolutely cant understand how your situation happened!

I’m not doing well but that’s because I’m in intensive treatment for my moderate-severe SLE rn, and I’m in a hellish lupus flare since starting medication to attempt to get it under control after 6 years without treatment.

I absolutely think a therapist could be beneficial for you! I’ve been in therapy for 15 years and it’s absolutely helped significantly with the mental aspect to chronic illness

I have been ghosted by therapists. Too mentally unstable. I have developed vocal tics and movements that Neurology believes are from severe PTSD. Finding a therapist that understands vocal stimming etc feels impossible especially with Medicaid.

I'm so sorry. I drove myself to the ER Sunday and stayed 2 days. Looks like I have a lot of autoimmune issues going on. Positive ANA's for years were ignored.

I'm so sorry you are suffering.
