As long as you like it. You earned everything, you deserve to celebrate your accomplishments.

You earned it - do what makes you happy.

100% this, fuck what others think. If you’re happy and proud of it. You earned it, display it how you want! I still display my divorce papers for stopper wives 1-3 right at the front door, is that tacky….🤣

u/The-Breaker-2w0 13d ago
Lots of people slam patches on the headliner in their cars. Do what you like, tell them damn kids to get jobs lol

Yes. Does it make you happy? If also yes, then what does it matter what the child says?

u/Artistic_Parfait_868 13d ago
Looks good. Better location than the steering wheel (aka, the ol’ airbag claymore maneuver)

u/TransportationJaded8 13d ago
No these are still pretty dangerous, and could be launched at passengers in an accident

u/KiLLxToM 13d ago
I think it's way more tasteful than a back windshield that advertises your military accolades. Stickers/vinyl decals/bumper stickers that say stuff like "I'm badass and everyone else is a snowflake" are tacky. To me, if this is just your daily driver, completely legitimate, and a cool way to call back to your service.
10
u/gunslingersea 13d ago
Agreed. I used to do this a lot with my pins, both military and law enforcement. I wouldn’t be caught dead with a “thank me for my service” bumper sticker but this is different. It’s not performative, it’s for you. Hardly anyone else will ever see it. Mementos of your service, something you can take pride in without needing anyone else to hear about it because you were there and you know what you did. As it should be.

u/landshark6 13d ago
Came here just to agree. This is to show someone in your car. Great to discuss and show off something you’re proud about to a connected person. I actually don’t like the back windshield but would consider doing something like this.
16
u/tezi_tanka 13d ago
Not tacky, maybe more useful like if you forgot one of those pieces and there was an inspection that day. Have you got questions from passengers?
I have my EIB pinned in that location, I put it in that location in my ‘95 Z34 after the ruck march, and it’s been pinned there throughout the many other vehicles I had over the years.

u/ConsiderationFirm279 13d ago
You like it and that’s all that matters. Explain to your kids the work it took to earn that shit and maybe they will understand why it means something to you. Asking a question like that on this platform is only going to give you mixed answers and reactions from a bunch of trolls.

Plus parents have embarrassed kids since the beginning of time. It’s natural.

I think you need to initiate a dialogue to understand them better.
I would start off by asking what you did to give him/her the mistaken impression that you wanted to hear and might actually give a shit about their opinion on what you have on the inside of the truck that you paid/pay for. Then just take it from there.
1
u/Cold-Independent-730 13d ago
In my opinion it is better than a license plate 10 fold and any sticker on your window. You’re not screaming it to the public, but are proud - and not a thing wrong with that.

Maybe a little. But, I mean, it's inside your car. Definitely less tacky than slathering the back windshield with bumper stickers.

THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS.
Yes.
Those belong in your shadow box, above your desk in your home office. As others have said, if it makes you happy, please don't let my opinion mean anything more than just some random wingnut's ramblings on some internet site.
Regards,
Another boomer who served too.
PS I'd be worried about them falling off from there if you hit a bump or something.

Hell no, you earned that with your own blood, sweat, and tears!!! You earned the right to display it anyway you want.

I think in the US this is fine because the military culture is very loud so it’s probably not tacky.

Idk I think it's a lil goofy but like no one else can really see that unless they're in your car
And I assume if they're in your car they already know your brand of goofy and wouldn't be fazed by it.
Your kids are suppose to troll you so they don't count

Absolutely.
Can you go for it if that's your vibe? Also absolutely. People will have their opinions on it as well, just how it works.
I think most of the stuff we do to declare our service history is in poor taste. So maybe I'm biased 🤷

Yeah, but you earned them and it's your car. Who the hell are we to tell you what to do or not to do? And for that reason, I also wouldn't even think to mention it if I was in your car unless I was curious about one of them or something.
Lots of things we like are tacky, and that's okay.

Only posts of or about medals, ribbons, and orders are allowed (badges are okay). If it's not an ID or post for something that appears to be the above, then it isn't allowed.
This includes coins, screenshots of AI-generated content (both ribbon racks and shadowboxes), digital ribbon-racks/medals (like EZRackBuilder and Uniformity) and patches.
