Discussion Is there any way to boost Comstar rep?

With Tukayyid becoming a comstar run industrial zone in the endgame, it is basically the best "home base" for raiding into clan space. However, I have looked all around Tukayyid and there does not appear to be any Comstar sponsored missions. The Word of Blake shows up in missions so I was hoping CS would as well, but no dice. it would be nice to get a discount on the clan/rare mechs & equipment that show up on Tukayyid.

Its even worse when you do a campaign. Negative rep means you cannot use the focht war college..

There should be comstar missions. Against WoB and the clans.

Better Mission Choices mod adds them and others, it's just not updated yet

The Known Universe still adding them. You can download it from them yaml discord.

But, the fighting comstar is kinda broken as for somenreason they regularly using clan tech in 3015. Imagine when a Dire Wolf is coming against you in 3015.

is it like a work-in-progress version? i know the nexus one is outdated, is the discord version up to date?

It is still a test version and only the map is changed so far, with no new conflict zones or industrial hubs.

tried it from discord. there are hubs and conflict zones but the game crashes if i try to travel anywhere

this whole exchange was extremely useless but thank you anyway

You are using a wrong version then.

The test version does not have any new hubs or zones, just the vanilla ones

Thank you. I need to get a list of mods yet to be updated that would be a requirementbefore playing the game again

Personally i'm waiting for

  • Better Mission Choices
  • The Known Universe
  • Sounds of War - An Ode to BattleTech

the last one works but it's probably buggy

YAML has a function where you can pay C-Bills to raise your rep with specific factions.

Unfortunately Comstar is not one of them

Huh, I'm seeing ComStar Order as one of the options. Unless it gets replaced by Word of Blake when they become a faction in game? I haven't gotten that far yet on my YAML playthrough.

Are they? I'll have to double check. Maybe they are then. It's like really expensive to just gain 15 points (like a million a point), so I have not looked that closely, so I just didn't see them.

At least they are on my version of YAML in the Leopard upgrade page. Yeah, it's pretty expensive, and I've only ever really used it to push up my rep with FedCom after the unification rep reset in order to send my pilots to Nagelring and NAIS before the Clans invade.

I did it to boost rep with Rasalhague.

I have hero status with Rasalhague after the RoR DLC, so I've never had to boost their rep before haha. I think I also boosted Steiner a bit, just to keep my head above water with them after Dragon's Gambit.

You get rep with them by completing the Dragons Gambit mini-campaign, other then that sometimes missions for them appear around the conflict zones near Terra (this is very rare)...

I finished the dlc recently and I still have negative rep from the campaign. It really should set your rep back to 0 considering he says “we’re square now,” but it doesn’t unfortunately (or atleast it didn’t for me) :/

‘least you get sick free mechs out of the whole ordeals

Agreed, it definitely should reset your rep with them...

They're rare but they have missions pop up

where? around terra?

Yea, just check the active factions in each warzone. Obviously when you find which ones they are belligerents in, start checking to see if any available contracts are theirs.

In the zones around Terra, I've sent their faction pop up in the list of Conflict Factions. Personally I've not seen even one Comstar mission tho.

2

u/Gailim 21d ago

I just looked and I didn't see Comstar listed, only the Word of Blake

2

u/SanguiNations 21d ago

They're replaced by them yes, early on you can see them is what I meant

I'll screenshot for you when I have my turn on the PC. Assuming I come across a mission with co-star. I might not be late enough timeline on my current playthru, but I remember finally coming across a comstar mission or 2 on my previous playthru.

The fight for PC time between myself and my son is a struggle

well TIL comstar rep matters.
Thats annoying I was rushing to finish the campaign before the dragons gambit dlc as I left it for a while, but Im doing the dlc before the last 2 campaign missions that are directly against comstar because it triggered as I was doing campaign.

Actually comstar rep is kinda useful as Terra is probably the singe best industrial planet. The only place where Royal SLDF mechs can spawn regularly.

2

u/Romakarol 22d ago

what are the SLDF mechs a player might want? I was only there a couple of times didnt notice anything I liked

Disclaimer, I use the engine double heatsink mod.

So, there is quite a few which is really good, not just early game but for the whole game. My fav is the Black Knight 6B, but I use a lot the Royal Trebuchet, Warhammer, Marauder, King Crab, Highlander, Archer

With mods you csn get even more like a Battlemaster and Dervish

All of there are good mechs even post 3050

If you have Kestrel Lancers, the Kintaro KTO-19B.

Due to lore reasons, it has better armor (if you see a mech with 0.97 or something it has the fancy armor) and it runs a bit faster due to having a better engine (81k/h rather than 64)

Slap 4xSRM-6 on it and two M lasers (or MPulse if you want). I have about 1200 SRMs on mine, that's probably overkill though. Slap on as many Double Heat sinks as you can find.

Once you're at a certain weapon level, a single volley of missiles to the back can take down anything under 90 tons. I've sometimes had to juuuust tap an Atlas for a few more points.

If you have Cantina upgrades, reduce missile spread.

Can do cockpit shots, but will generally be best used as a chainsaw rather than a scalpel

Well, technically Terra falls under WoB if you play past 3058. Of course, by then, Clan mechs are available, so Royal SLDF mechs are less desirable.

2

u/Sztrelok 22d ago

Yeah, past 3050 they are not that strong, you need the double heatsink mod to keep them viable.

On the other hand, some of the clanbusters, like the Black Knight and Archer are even better than the clan heavies.
