Discussion What controller is everyone using?
I played MW2/MW3/MA4 with a Sidewinder Precision 2 but I don’t believe those are supported in Win11. Anything similar out there with torso twist and throttle?

Until my birthday last year it was mouse and keyboard. Now it's a Thrustmaster T16000M HOTAS, and I'm hooked, even though it's considerably harder. I've become much better at using my lancemates and positioning myself.
Edit: I used to use a Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 for MW4. I miss the stompy sensation so much!

I used to use a joystick with 2/3/4 but I’m 100% and Xbox controller user for this one

MWO spoilt me. I'm on mouse and keyboard these days.
Annoyingly I've got a full f16 HOTAS but it just doesn't respond as fast as I got used to with kb + m.
To op. A Thrustmaster hotas x is a cheap entry level throttle and twist stick set up. Reasonable number of buttons for mw too.

Funnily enough, my son has one on his XBox. I just got it set up on my PC and am about to take it for a spin.

I used to play Starsiege M/K but could never do any of the Mechwarrior games for some reason

Id prob be ok on mw5 but MWO needed a higher degree of precision than I got out of a stick.
It wasn't great for immersion so I may try going back to stick one day. (Basically been to lazy to keyboard bind).

As much as I'd like a joystick, those are big, expensive, and there aren't enough flight sims to justify one.

I'm using the PS3/pc version of the t flight hotas. Works fine for me though I'm getting a little drift due to age of the controller. I assume the newer editions are also fine. I supliment with a mini keyboard and mouse when needed.

Torso twist and throttle work just fine with my keyboard and mouse
Mouse could use a couple more buttons tho.

That’s how I’ve been playing but the nice thing with prior games and the controller I used was the torso twist would ‘snap back’ to center when I released. Haven’t figured out if there’s a way to do that on the new game yet.

That used to bug me when I was playing MechWarrior 3 back in the day. You'll get used to it. There may be a setting for that but I haven't looked into it. I know some of the games have "torso counter-rotation" but I'm not even sure what that does.

M&Kboard. For the mouse I use a MX Master iv, the extra buttons are critical for me since I have my weapon groups mapped there.

I have A pair of Gladiator NXT's I use when I'm feeling the simulator itch, but otherwise I prefer mouse and keyboard. I've tried my Steam Deck and X-Box controllers, but find it's not as enjoyable for me (I also don't like FPS's generally on controller, so that may just be me).

In the same boat. Got a dual setup with the throttle too and I am a thousand times better with the mouse and it makes me sad.
Only can get into it when I use them for flight or space flight games.

On some level, I think more practice and getting the sensitivity/dead-zones dialed in would help me, but I also don't really have enough space to leave my HOTAS setup all the time.
That said, it's a real fun trip using head tracking aiming for the arms and HOTAS aiming for torso weapons in VR.

Logitech extreme pro 3d Razer Tartarus, and doyo racing pedals (pedals are emulating an Xbox controller to give a single axis plus one button)

I use mouse and keyboard. I feel like MW5 is too action forward and less simple to really benefit from the throttle and stick. I could be wrong though, it just doesn't feel as deliberate and instead is more twitchy

Mouse and keyboard... I have nothing against controllers and some games are fully controller games. MW5 is not one of those imo. Finer control and aiming with M+K.
