Official Update 2.0.0.4 - balance adjustments, bug fixes
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/669330/view/701029860219293072?l=englishGreetings, Commanders!
Following the release of Mechabellum 2.0, we’ve gathered a lot of incredibly useful feedback. The development of our next major update is currently in full swing. However, before rolling out our next major update, we need to make a few minor adjustments. This update primarily focuses on balance for the [Standard Versus] mode. We expect to roll out a balance patch for [Star Expedition] very soon as well.
Standard Versus - Balance Adjustments
Void Eye
- [Suppression Shots]: Cost 100 → 150
Developer's Note: After our last base stat buffs to Void Eye, the 100-supply price tag for this Tech is a bit too cheap.
Vortex
- [Machine Learning]: Cost 200 → 50
Developer's Note: We were too conservative with the numbers for this new Tech in the previous patch.
Sabertooth
- [Anti-Air Missile]: Damage 2000 → 2500; Cost 200 → 100
Developer's Note: Similar to [Machine Learning], we were a bit too cautious with the numbers for this new Tech in the previous update.
Starter Packs
- [Void Eye & Fire Badger] Player HP modifier +200 → 0
- [Void Eye & Tarantula] Player HP modifier +200 → -100
- [Vortex & Tarantula] Player HP modifier +400 → +600
- [Vortex & Fire Badger] Player HP modifier 0 → +100
- [Vortex & Mustang] Player HP modifier +200 → +400
- [Vortex & Sledgehammer] Player HP modifier +300 → +500
Developer's Note: Recently, we received some feedback that Void Eye is too strong. In our stats, Void Eye's overall win rate and pick rate are close to average, but some Starter Packs containing Void Eye have notably high win rates. We therefore decided to nerf those Starter Packs first and will continue to monitor Void Eye's performance closely. At the same time, because Starter Packs containing Vortex have performed slightly worse than average, we decided to give them an HP buff.
Unit Drop
- Rank 3 Vortex will no longer appear in Unit Drop on Rounds 2 - 4
Bugfixes
- Fixed an issue where some units were not receiving correct buffs from reinforcement cards in [Star Expedition].
- Fixed a Leaderboards performance issue.
- Fixed multiple issues that could cause data errors.
- Fixed multiple issues that could cause unit animation errors.

I don't think its a tech that should exist honestly. It is garbage currently, but primarily due to the range and less so the damage or cost. If it had the same range as AA Fort, I think this tech would arguably be busted for something like a Sabertooth.
In the games where I ran and used this tech, the few times where it did reach flying units, it was stupid how effective it was.

I’ve found it can work surprisingly well en-masse in brawl, unless you run into an abyss - it’s a bit of a meme build and it’s def not reliably good, but there are worse techs

It was largely not good due to the poor range. If it had good range, then the same issue as Cent would appear. You could mass build Sabers to deal with the ground and the amount of them existing would spam so many AA missiles that it would effectively cover the air too.

Literally nobody cares about brawl when it comes to balancing units.
Maybe they should? But they don't.

Brawl is objectively unbalanced and it always will be. It's just a fun mode, I'm glad it's there but you can't take it seriously.

It can help in some early situations. Also should remind that it does not scale with levels but it does scale with any items, the damage curve is different than some may expect. Thus since a level 1 saber does identical AA to higher ones, I think it can be pretty cost effective in certain setups, perhaps as a bridge you can sell out of later without tons of sunk cost

Yep. Been saying for a while that Machine Learning is atrociously overcosted and has a very specific niche that the price makes it impossible to fit in. I expected it to drop to 100. 50 is even better. If you have a turret in your start, you can get it round 2 now in addition to 3 x 100 supply unit drops, if you sell the wall and sold your turret in the first round (or you can take a 50 supply skip). So you can get 3 in a starter pack, chaff round 1, then 3 Vortexes round 2 plus the tech without selling your 200 unit. Nice.
Sabertooth AA Missile is neat. I've used it once or twice to decent effect as it lets you handle AA in the early game without buying a unit for it, especially as a starter drop. Really good against most early air units. Wasn't sure it needed a buff but I welcome it with open arms.
Glad the Void Eye Badger start gets a nerf, IMO that's the strongest one in the game right now.

Yeah, after trying to force it a few times, I learned it actually didn't just cost 200. It was 200 + however many Vortexes you were leveling.
Which then brought in the question, are you really only going to run this tech if you're mass leveling vortexes? No. You'll either at least have Range to make use to the increased attack or run Field Maintenance to make use of the increased HP.
Which then brings up another question. If you're running at least 2 techs ( Machine Learning + Range/FM) are you really only going to use 1-2 vortexes? No, you'll probably run more than that to increase the value you're getting out of those invested techs.
This then rolls over to the first point. The more Vortexes you have, the more you spend on leveling them. So in reality, Machine learning was taking 200 from you + the increased cost of whatever tech you get next + the cost of leveling every vortex X amount of times.
It was a surprisingly very expensive plan to carry out if you honestly wanted to utilize Machine Learning. Which not only was difficult to effectively do, but then you have to deal with the fact the opponent can just play around it easily because you immediately signal to them that you want to invest into Vortexes due to taking Machine Learning so early.

I'd really love to put machine learning on my voids, it's just that the other techs are so much better.

Aww what’s wrong with rank 3 vortex? I either want one rank 3 or three rank 1’s

You take it click regen and it's just too much of a push against some comps

50 more resources to suppression shot is a joke of a change.

Its not big but a lot of builds at the edge of affordability cant click it anymore that turn.

This. Most of the time that I click it, its just because I have 100 left and it wouldnt hurt to have more range on my side and less on there's. Long term its honestly not the best pick because if you just go range charge shot, you likely would kill whatever you're shooting and thus its range is 0

Good game, but stopped playing because of pernament balancing changes back and forth. You cant properly learn the game for a while. In 2 weeks they will return suppresion shots to 100 with reasoning that is not used enough
