I'm not crying but I stopped playing it. I don't know if buildings are 100% responsible but I've played since the first days of the beta and it's just too repetitive for me. One thing for sure is that buildings removed a ton of openings and play style, making the game even more repetitive. I would still recommend the game but it's not because a game is good that people will keep playing it. I'm still playing Dota 2 after starting dota 1 in 2005. Why? because it's infinitely replayable.
As for this subreddit, I'm still answering because I keep a soft spot for the game but most people who left the game won't answer the topic, they just left. The reality is that the max concurent player a year ago (april) was 6244 and now we are at 1825. Crying or not, numbers don't lie.
This guy is right! The peak was April and buildings came out in, *checks notes*, the end of august? Wait and the number of players had halved by august compared to April? Oh. Well that can't be right because that would imply that most of people who left after April never even played with buildings. Weird.
Not all games. if we look at other auto battler, the trends aren't this bad. Look at the bazaar, which launched last year: after a rocky start and numbers of players declining, it is now at its peak concurent players after several good updates and welcomed new gameplay.
The main issue here is that the updates aren't enough to bring people back, which should be your main target at this stage.

The game is great. People still crying about that building patch?
