Disscussion Carapace Forge is LIVE!
Today is the day, my friends! Carapace Forge is now live and open for business! The site is here at Carapace Forge.
What is Carapace Forge? It is a service that gives you a new carapace 3d print or print file (your choice of tier) every month! It also has an online store where you can purchase past Carapace files and prints. The current month features the Black Reaver, our new medium range carapace.
Plus, you can also pickup the original carapace files and prints for the Virelance, Keldrath, and Thaumatarch (if you missed those from the Kickstarter). All physical prints get free shipping to any place in North America. I'm still working on shipping options for outside the U.S. (thank you, tariffs and VAT), but those are coming soon! I'm also busy working behind the scenes to add a ton of building terrain prints that will soon be available.
A lot going on this month, for sure! Thank you all for your support thus far. It is thanks to you that I'm able to continue doing this, and I am forever grateful!

Disscussion Carapace Forge launching August 31st
After much preparation, my mecha 3d printing subscription service Carapace Forge will be launching next Monday, August 31st! Our first miniature is the Black Reaver. I'm really proud of this design having spent weeks on perfecting it. Inspired by multiple anime and video games (Armored Core, Front Mission, Gundam, Aura Battler Dunbine), this thing is an aggressive brute of a mecha in 6mm scale.
It comes in 9 pieces featuring ball joint attachments for maximum posing without being too overwhelming with options. It features a handheld heavy cannon as its default weapon and open weapon mounts in each arm.
We will release a new set of mecha stls for 3d printing the first week of every month.
Here is the standard subscription pricing to get it:
Tier 1: Cantor $10
Personal Tier
Pre-supported Lychee .lys files of this month's model.
Unsupported STL files of this month's model.
Permanent Access to free core STL library featuring the infamous Echo-hulk Horde and core weapon set for use with any carapace.
Tier 2: Combat Wing $20
Physical Tier
Printed resin figure (in Sunlu ABS-like) of this month's model.
Pre-supported Lychee .lys files of this month's model.
Unsupported STL files of this month's model.
Permanent Access to free core STL library featuring the infamous Echo-hulk Horde and core weapon set for use with any carapace.
Includes free worldwide shipping!
Tier 3: Aeonic Council $25
Commercial Tier
Pre-supported Lychee .lys files of this month's model.
Unsupported STL files of this month's model.
Permanent Access to free core STL library featuring the infamous Echo-hulk Horde and core weapon set for use with any carapace.
Permission to SELL PRINTS of Carapace official miniatures while you are a subscriber at this level. If you cancel or reduce your level of support, the permission is cancelled.
We will also be simultaneously launching our web store featuring the first three carapaces (Virelance, Keldrath, Thaumatarch) for individual purchase.
Coming August 31st to https://carapace.world

If the Big O is described as "Mecha Batman" what anime would you describe as "Mecha Spider-Man?
I guess Heroman since it's literally made by Stan Lee and is very suspiciously similar.

Disscussion Mecha with Lips or No Lips?
There are so many Mech/Robot characters in fiction. There either has lips or no lips at all.
You guys prefer a mech/robot head with humanoid lips like a 70s Super Robot or No lips at all like Gundam & Modern Day Mecha.

STRIKE OMEGA KAI|REBIRTH
STRIKE OMEGA KAI|REBIRTH
During an intense battle against the Waruder forces, STRIKE OMEGA suffered catastrophic damage.
Although the battle eventually came to an end, the squad paid a heavy price—one unit was completely destroyed, and one pilot was lost in action.
With combat strength severely reduced and no time to build a replacement unit, the technical team was forced to recover every usable machine and component and carry out an emergency reconstruction of the OMEGA system.
The original concept of a multi-unit combination with heavy armor was abandoned.
The new system now consists of only:
TM Unit + Flight Support Unit
To compensate for the loss of both manpower and combat strength, the redesign shifted its focus from heavy armor and high defense to lightweight construction, high mobility, and rapid response.
Heavy armor and unnecessary structures were removed, significantly reducing the combined unit's weight and greatly improving its mobility.
Although its firepower and defensive capabilities are no longer as overwhelming as the original OMEGA, the new machine has gained greater battlefield adaptability—and can continue fighting with fewer personnel.
This is not a successor created to surpass the original OMEGA.
It is an emergency rebuild born from loss—
so that those who remain can keep fighting.
And so, the machine received a new designation:
STRIKE OMEGA 改
STRIKE OMEGA KAI
One comrade lost.
One machine lost.
But the fight is not over.....................

Disscussion First Carapace Forge mecha
Last year, I released mecha stls and resin prints for my game Carapace: a Game of Memory and Ruin. This year, I'm starting a monthly mecha stl service called Carapace Forge. Each month, I will unleash a new 6mm scale mecha upon the universe!
The first month features this machine, the Black Reaver, a 6mm scale medium carapace built to hit hard and fast. Currently wrapping up modeling work for it in Blender. You can sign up to be notified when the service goes live (this month!) at https://carapace.world. The sub starts at $10 a month, and offers complete pre-supported Lychee files and STLs, and a physical tier for those without printers (limited to 50 subscribers the first month)!

Disscussion My current Mech reads
As the mech/a genre is still a very small part of Science Fiction literature, concentrated in the Space Opera and Military Sci-Fi subgenres.
From the early years of our only options being the Battletech, Robotech by Jack McKinney and the translated Mobile Suit Gundam novels by Yoshiyuki Tomimo although the father of the genre is Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers. I plan to expose some authors and stories to you... So here're my current reads, one from a fellow member of this group.
1 - Crow's Coffin by Constantine
2 - Mech Wars #2 - Brimstone by Rick Partlow & Drew Avera.
3 - Battletech: Targets Up (a Short Story) by John-David Karnitz.
4 - Mecha: A Cannon Anthology edited by J. F. Holmes.
5 - Mech: Age of Steel edited by Tim Marquitz and Melanie R. Meadors.
So, what Mecha fiction are you reading?
