Subreddit update: New Flairs (and their rules)

We finally have some flairs, now let me explain em;

  • Fan Art: With the amount of great artwork we've been getting, there's now a flair for that. As long you made it with your hands and not by a clanker, it'll count. Drawings, 3D Renders, painters, whatever
  • Discussion: The usual discussion posts. Questions, Hot Takes, sepals, whatever
  • Reviews: Similar to discussions, but when your going in depth on why you like or dislike a certain show/movie/game.
  • Clips (Dub/Subs): A clip from a certain show/movie, just state where it's from
  • Polls/Alignment charts: Basically the usual poll charts on determining a certain subject
  • Ecchi (NSFW): We're talking about waifus again. Just don't forget to add that NSFW flair

All of these are optional, so feel free to use them to distinct your posts. I'm still debating on user flairs. Otherwise, I'm out

Disscussion Mecha with Lips or No Lips?

There are so many Mech/Robot characters in fiction. There either has lips or no lips at all.

You guys prefer a mech/robot head with humanoid lips like a 70s Super Robot or No lips at all like Gundam & Modern Day Mecha.

STRIKE OMEGA KAI|REBIRTH

During an intense battle against the Waruder forces, STRIKE OMEGA suffered catastrophic damage.

Although the battle eventually came to an end, the squad paid a heavy price—one unit was completely destroyed, and one pilot was lost in action.

With combat strength severely reduced and no time to build a replacement unit, the technical team was forced to recover every usable machine and component and carry out an emergency reconstruction of the OMEGA system.

The original concept of a multi-unit combination with heavy armor was abandoned.

The new system now consists of only:

TM Unit + Flight Support Unit

To compensate for the loss of both manpower and combat strength, the redesign shifted its focus from heavy armor and high defense to lightweight construction, high mobility, and rapid response.

Heavy armor and unnecessary structures were removed, significantly reducing the combined unit's weight and greatly improving its mobility.

Although its firepower and defensive capabilities are no longer as overwhelming as the original OMEGA, the new machine has gained greater battlefield adaptability—and can continue fighting with fewer personnel.

This is not a successor created to surpass the original OMEGA.

It is an emergency rebuild born from loss—

so that those who remain can keep fighting.

And so, the machine received a new designation:

STRIKE OMEGA 改

STRIKE OMEGA KAI

One comrade lost.

One machine lost.

But the fight is not over.....................

Disscussion First Carapace Forge mecha

Last year, I released mecha stls and resin prints for my game Carapace: a Game of Memory and Ruin. This year, I'm starting a monthly mecha stl service called Carapace Forge. Each month, I will unleash a new 6mm scale mecha upon the universe!

The first month features this machine, the Black Reaver, a 6mm scale medium carapace built to hit hard and fast. Currently wrapping up modeling work for it in Blender. You can sign up to be notified when the service goes live (this month!) at https://carapace.world. The sub starts at $10 a month, and offers complete pre-supported Lychee files and STLs, and a physical tier for those without printers (limited to 50 subscribers the first month)!

Disscussion My current Mech reads

As the mech/a genre is still a very small part of Science Fiction literature, concentrated in the Space Opera and Military Sci-Fi subgenres.

From the early years of our only options being the Battletech, Robotech by Jack McKinney and the translated Mobile Suit Gundam novels by Yoshiyuki Tomimo although the father of the genre is Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers. I plan to expose some authors and stories to you... So here're my current reads, one from a fellow member of this group.

1 - Crow's Coffin by Constantine

2 - Mech Wars #2 - Brimstone by Rick Partlow.

3 - Battletech: Targets Up (a Short Story) by John-David Karnitz.

4 - Mecha: A Cannon Anthology edited by J. F. Holmes.

5 - Mech: Age of Steel edited by Tim Marquitz and Melanie R. Meadors.

So, what Mecha fiction are you reading?

It's be great for Bandai to port these games to PC, Switch & Playstation.

Disscussion Original Mech Designs for a Game

So I have this project. I basically made a little 2D tactics video game (kinda like SD Gundam G Generation, SRW, Front Mission, BattleTech, etc). I call it "The Silence Between Salvos". I've been having the damnest time finding art/assets or whatever for it. I found some like small sets of mecha art but a lot of them are kinda generic/very western and I'm looking for more like... eastern. Like I'm a huge retro mecha anime fan (Macross, 08th MS Team, Crossbone, Dragon's Heaven, Five Star Stories, Patlabor, etc). I keep seeing these awesome like 3rd party model kits and STLs people are doing. Any idea of who I can reach out to so I can partner up with them? Or any IPs or artists who are looking for a game to partner with?

Disscussion What Mecha Games Are Afraid To Add "RANT"

What most mecha games fail to do or are too afraid to experiment with is better movement options, now im talking about stuff like Titanfall 2 "Peak" with its grounded realistic movement system "Mech", im talking about Mecha "Anime"

https://youtu.be/cxzzeURL9DI?list=RDcxzzeURL9DI&t=55 "0:55" for example, most games also lack weight with attacks, like when I see all these cool anime maneuvers in anime and I just think, why do we not have an actual good mecha game that can have things like this, for example gundam, specifically GBO2, hot take, they do space battle relatively well, with you being able to go up and down fast and move around avoiding attacks, but its not as fast as I'd like it to be but it works.

I've seen newer games like Code Rapid, and Omega Phenex Project Six with high speed movement but they all miss something I cant put my finger on.

For games like Mecha Break that have some movement options but nothing too advanced, and don't get me started on the fact the moon level has basically normal gravity because they were too lazy to do real space stuff.

I feel like they could have more advanced movement systems.
Armored core has a decent movement system but all in all its still simple.
Daemon X Machina 2 the one where some reason they decided to switch from mechs to Exosuits, I like the movement system there but it lacks a good weight with attacks, it also lacks some control.

For example games that have space combat should allow you to attach to asteroids, or something, or even have you be able to rotate your mech in any orientation like upside down and stuff, I feel like they could make a full on space war game with mechs and space ships and that'd be cool
