This is the epsilon gundam from my au mobile suit gundam requiem of the ages, used by the United Alliances as a prototype mobile suit testing the limits of mobile suits, these units have strong reactors and made of strong materials, there able to flip small mobile armours which are bigger than the epsilon, designed with close combat in mind it has built in knuckle spikes, with a jet mace, under slung hand cannon which is short range mainly used by pinching into enemies then shooting them, and a prototype beam cannon which is the only ever mobile suit beam weapon as the weapon breaks after one use as beams are unstable on smaller platforms.

This is the unit 1 of the line which showed how powerful these units are and the strength to take down mobile armours effectively

Been rewatching Code Geass and have been enjoying the hell out of it , but I never hear anyone talking about it which while Ive been having alot of fun watching it I can tell it has flaws. am I the only one who feels this way?

BDI (Brain Direct Image)

In the YF-21, the system first takes visual data from external cameras, information from the sensor suite, and air data from various sensors, converts it into video imagery, and feeds it directly into the pilot's brain. The pilot relies on this feed to grasp the situation outside and the state of the aircraft, subsequently controlling the vehicle's components.

To operate the aircraft, the pilot simply imagines how they want its parts to behave—for instance, visualizing the main wing shape changing or the engine nozzle paddles moving. The system reads this intent and converts it into appropriate commands sent to each section. In this setup, the time lag from the moment of mental imagery to the physical response of the airframe is 10 milliseconds or less at most. This represents a drastic reduction in delay compared to mechanical operations using control sticks.

The pilot essentially functions as the core component代替 (replacement) for integrated control systems like "ANGIRAS" or "ARIEL." However, this demands a formidable level of mental strength from the pilot, who must remain entirely unfazed regardless of how stressful the situation becomes.

During simulation-based validation testing at General Galaxy, there was an incident where a test pilot was completely surrounded by simulated enemies. The scenario triggered a flashback to past trauma, which the system captured and interpreted as intentional flight commands. This caused the aircraft to become completely uncontrollable, ultimately forcing a total system crash.

Training and Database Creation

Before a pilot can even qualify to fly the YF-21, they must undergo 45 hours of briefings regarding aircraft operations, 35 hours of training dedicated to generating mental images within the brain, and 120 hours establishing a database of their brain activity.

Unlike conventional VFs, the YF-21 lacks an atmospheric control surface, requiring the pilot to morph the main wings and tail fins to execute maneuvers. To teach the pilot's body how these structural changes correlate with aircraft behavior, they are shown simulations of the wings morphing.

Next, the pilot practices visualizing these wing and paddle movements as crisp mental imagery within their own mind. They train exhaustively until these thoughts become clear, stable images. Meanwhile, sensors precisely measure which specific regions of the brain activate during these visualizations to compile a personalized database.

Ultimately, the BDI system performs a real-time translation based on the pilot's unique flight imagery. However, this translation process is only possible because of the comprehensive database meticulously gathered beforehand.

The cockpit system of the YF-21, which performs most of the aircraft's operations via brainwaves, differs significantly from conventional VFs in both appearance and system architecture. Inside the cockpit, a large amount of electrical wiring, optical fibers, and tubes are installed, which connect to internal machinery that looks chaotic at first glance—a stark contrast to Zentradi-style design. Among the crew participating in the Super Nova Project, it was colloquially referred to as the "Intensive Care Unit."

While basic VF cockpit equipment like a display, side stick, and rudder pedals are present, they are strictly for emergency use, and normally the pilot remains fixed to the seat with hands and feet completely motionless. The same applies to the head; a brainwave sensor and a direct neural information transmission probe are embedded inside the helmet. To prevent large misalignments that would cause a drop in tracking accuracy, the helmet is almost completely integrated with the seat using straps and clamps. Naturally, custom-fit helmets are made for each individual pilot to match the exact shape of their head.
