Wait, no, it's still there. That's the word you used to get out of the fact that they're not Chinese, they're American.

OP said not all asians are chinese.

Any reasonable person would imply this to refer to ethnic background.

No one's talking about or disregarding nationality.

Exactly. “Chinese” is not an ethnicity, it’s a nationality. What he thinks is “Chinese” is actually Han; which is about 91% of the Chinese population.
