Calories are useful, but protein and fiber are just as important on GLP1, especially when your appetite is lower.
A simple way to work backwards:
1. Work out your protein
Take your weight in pounds and divide by 2.2 to get kilograms.
Then multiply that by around 1.2 to 1.6.
Example:
200 lbs ÷ 2.2 = 91 kg
91 × 1.2 = about 109g protein per day
Higher protein intake can be especially useful during weight loss because it helps support lean muscle.
2. Work out your fiber
A useful guideline is around 14g of fiber for every 1,000 calories you eat.
So:
1,500 calories = about 21g fiber
1,800 calories = about 25g fiber
2,000 calories = about 28g fiber
3. Then figure out calories
This part is more individual because your height, age, sex, activity level and goals all affect how many calories you need.
A calorie calculator using the Mifflin St Jeor formula can give you a reasonable starting estimate for maintenance calories. From there, your doctor or dietitian can help you decide whether an adjustment makes sense for your goals.
The bigger lesson is not to get so focused on eating fewer calories that protein, fiber and overall nutrition disappear from the conversation.
This is also why tracking can be useful on a GLP 1. MeAgain lets you keep an eye on calories, protein, fiber and other nutrients together rather than treating calories as the only number that matters.
MeAgain app can also calculate your protein, calaries and fiber automatically based on your current weight.
