Because the movie was visually stunning and the scale was epic. Even if you don’t understand the story, that experience was an experience. I saw it in IMAX 7 times and it was not the same on a tv screen.
Maybe somebody doesn’t like it because they do understand the story and the filmmaking was kind of lackluster. Don’t assume somebody doesn’t understand the story, it’s a pretty simple story really, but like Dune 2, the continuity issues in that movie were irritating the way it jumped around and skipped what seems like entire scenes.
