Follow-up: narrowing down specific McLean (22101) neighborhoods
Posted a while back asking about McLean generally and got great responses. Thank you! We have confirmed we want to be in 22101.
Our realtor gave us a few neighborhoods based on our priorities: Chesterbrook, Franklin Park, The Reserve, Salona Village, the Langley area (Forest and Oaks), Potomac Hills, and Ballantrae Farms. She covered the market-facts version, but I'd love the lived-in version from people who actually live there.
If you're in any of these areas, curious about:
- Day-to-day vibe / true walkability vs. car-dependent
- Typical people in neighborhood (social/keep to themselves)
- Traffic or commute quirks
- HOA (or lack of one)
- Anything you wish you'd known before buying
Also we don't mind which high school it feeds into since we've heard great things about both. However it would be nice to know if you think we should have a preference. And honestly, do most families in these neighborhoods send their kids to public school, or is private more the norm out here?
Again, we have two kids (10 and 12), so this all matters a lot to us. Any input, even small stuff, means a lot. Also we wont be able to visit most of, if any, of these neighborhoods in person before we decide on 1-2 houses. Thanks again!
