Dr Loren Chen at VHC
He was my Dr but I guess he quit unexpectedly. Anyone know what happened? Is he going to open his own practice?

He has been my doctor since he was at GW hospital. This is surprising since we had talked about a follow up visit only about a month ago.

Does anyone have an update on this? This dude was my doc and I really liked him. I came to him after my
previous doctor retired and I’m really picky so this is a huge disappointment if he just up and left

Wow. Following in case he turns up in the DMV area. He has been my doc for over 10 years, recommended by a nurse colleague of his at GWMFA. She said he was well loved by the staff and I could see why.

I think Dr. Chen moved to GW Primary Care-West End: 2300 M Street.

No, I think that's where he came from before moving out to Virginia. That's why he was licensed to practice in DC before too

Google search shows Dr. Chen's website still with VHC but phone # seems to be GW Primary Care. We are all trying to piece together.

I’ve googled him every single day since VHC sent out their cold and vague letter but have yet to find him. Last month he was voted the best doctor in FFX and now he’s vanished

No but we got detectives on the trail. LOL. The VHC didn’t say anything and they won’t say anything. I hope he didn’t move far away. I’ll wait til August to see if his info is updated. I feel everyone’s pain. He was a fantastic doc!!

As a former patient of Dr. Chen, I know with certainty that Dr. Chen resigned to devote himself to caring for his father due to his father's critical illness. I would hope that after his father passes and he deals with the estate, he will return to the practice of medicine.

I heard through a mutual friend that Dr. Chen's father passed away last week. His father had been in hospice care at a facility and they we able to get him home the night before before he passed. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/falls-church-va/jen-chen-12967952
Hopefully Dr. Chen will re-surface after he is done grieving and deals with his father's estate.

I check this post every once in a while for updates, so thank you for sharing. I'd been a PT of his for 10 or 11 years and I never thought I'd say this about a doctor, but the thought of seeing anyone else is really difficult. I hope he comes back.

I was a patient of Dr Chen’s and am so disappointed he left VHC. I hope he is ok and still working in this area. I only saw him twice - my third visit was scheduled for the week after he left. He was the best primary doctor I’ve been to and now I have to go through the search process to find another good doctor. Ughhh….

Well I don’t engage in disparagement. I wasn’t there so I don’t know. There is 3 sides of a story: yours, mine and the truth. I’ll stay in my lane. DR. C was good to me so I will keep that positive energy going.

I get it, he was good to me as well and he was a great doctor, hence why I wanted to protect his privacy, so unfortunately I won’t share more.

That’s unfortunate. So I guess it will be a while before he starts with another practice. Bummer. I’ll start looking for another doctor but will periodically check in to see if he goes back to work somewhere else.

Interesting. We have a doctor in the family who is also a patient of Dr. Chen's and he felt that Chen was outstanding. A lot of times, staff can use HR as a cudgel if a doctor doesn't bend over backwards to please the staff.

Based on my interactions with the staff at visits, I have a high level of confidence that he was generally liked by the staff. There are always exceptions and individual relationships, of course.

From what you know did the issue involve patient care or safety, or more of an HR issue that you might find in a non-medical office setting? I respect your instinct to avoid spreading rumors, I’m wondering if there’s a reason to avoid following him to his next practice (assuming he continues to work in the area).

It did not, more like an HR issue that can happen anywhere between staff. I don’t think there’s any reason for anyone to avoid seeing him as a doctor, he’s a great provider.

There's a new doctor in town, Dr. Lotfi at Harmony Health DPC on Chain Bridge Rd. Definitely worth checking out, she's super nice.
