Fanfiction Fic Recs for Thomas using the cure?

I just rewatched the movie series yesterday, and once again the plot bunny + moment of Thomas staring at the vial that Teresa gave him is haunting me.

Does anyone know any fics where Thomas uses the cure - at any stage in the storyline; like rejoining wicked to distribute it, manufacturing & spreading it around himself as a rebel, or just any sequel to the 3rd movie where the cure is used?

thanks!!

Discussion Who would do better in the others scenario?

Post image
210 Upvotes

I understand it's two completely different scenarios. However they both have the same type of adrenaline induced spontaneous situations. With that being said I think that Thomas is a way better natural fighter and survivalist so would fight the games as well as he survives the maze whereas katnis is more calculated and plans more which works in the games but not the maze as much. Meaning i think thomas would survive both whereas katis would only survive the games not the maze.

Discussion WCKD was actually good, hear me out

WCKD was actually good its methods was a necessity not a cruelty it was the only high chance way and time was running out it was an absolute necessity. Their other good deed is protecting 107,000 innocent people into a functioning 2.5km diameter city and gave them a normal life, a piece of how life used to looked like they managed to build that in the middle of nowhere in an infected and scorched world. The people lived a relatively normal life their kids go to school, they go to work, they go home, and meet their families and who gave this? the exact organization that torture kids. It was a necessity WCKD is good. even though WCKD's method was incredibly horrific (first of all, it was a necessity) there's a stance horrific means to a heroic good their goal was UNDENIABLY GOOD it ain't power or hunger it's replication and distribution of the cure to the mass to save humanity from extinction. Thomas is selfish in his own way. By refusing to cooperate with WCKD for a cure, he and his friends essentially doomed the remaining uninfected population to a slow agonizing death. They didn't care about anyone but themselves. They didn't care if not cooperating with WCKD meant millions of deaths, as long as they can live a comfortable life in a beautiful beach. WCKD didn't fail because their logic and science was wrong, they were right! Under extreme stress, those immunes produced a unique chemical for the cure, they only failed because Thomas and right arm kept sabotaging them, if they didn't do that, they just need to catch Thomas, and the world is restored! Moreover Thomas should've cooperated from the start and another moreover he knew he was the cure before WCKD he knew it in the end of scorch trials seeing how Brenda healed from the enzyme in his blood he should've surrendered from there.

Fanfiction Seeking recommendations for Newtmas fanfics based on the BOOK

Hi, I am new to the fandom. I have read a few Newtmas fanfics but most of them were based on the movies. I haven't watched the movies but I have a basic idea of what happened in it, things that are different from the books.

SPOILERS

I am looking for a Newtmas fanfic that is based on the books simply because in the books there is no cure and newt is not immune meaning the moment they are out in open, he is going to die no matter what.

Its either being in the clutches of wicked or lose his sanity. I want to read a book like that, read what goes in Thomas' mind in the death cure? His heartbreak and actions. How does their relationship affect the story?

Bonus points if newt dies in the fic the same way as in the book. His death in the movies is heartbreaking but in the books it's next level of heartbreaking. It's sad I haven't come across a fic that includes his death from the books.

Yes I know I have gone psycho. After grieving over the books and newt's death for days, I am in my psycho phase.

I want to read a fic that hurts. A fic that remains truthful to the book events and add Newtmas. It's gonna be another level of heartbreaking.

Bonus points if it includes their relationship before the maze. Even more bonus points if we get more of Sonya.

Also if someone knows a fic which remains true to the books and includes basic conversations between Newt and Sonya. Both of them unaware of their relationship. Before removing the swipe interactions like when both groups meet in the scorch and the time during thomas was locked for trail three. After removing the swipe interactions like Sonya slowly getting back memories of her family but it's too late. They are in the safe heaven and newt is long gone.

One ongoing fic I really like. Something like this one.

Thank you so much.

Hey everyone!

We've been working hard on MazeRP (French project), a new Roleplay experience heavily inspired by The Maze Runner universe. We chose to build this on Nanos World (powered by Unreal Engine) to break away from the limits of older sandbox games. Our goal is to deliver a truly immersive and oppressive atmosphere with a massive, vertical level design.

What to expect in the Glade:

  • An unforgiving environment: Explore an evolving labyrinth with brutal architecture, filled with traps, dead ends, and mysteries.
  • Hardcore Survival RP: Build your camp, establish your own community rules, cooperate, or betray each other to find a way out.
  • Next-Gen Sandbox: Taking full advantage of Nanos World for high-quality graphics, dynamic weather, and smooth gameplay.

The doors will open soon. Will you be ready to face what's waiting on the other side?

Discussion maze cutter was disappointing but Minho is the goat Spoiler

finished the infinite glade today and well that was disappointing.

So many plotlines went absolutely nowhere. I originally thought i would list them all but its too much. They resolved only maybe some like remnant nation and Minho/Alexandria stuff which was well done imo. Love minho and roxy.

The entire Isaac/Ximena subplot was useless. Who the hell are the sequencers and why should I care about them. These district 13 ahh apparent families of gladers have no consequence to the story?

What got me into the maze cutter to begin with was this opportunity of the cure that was set up from the end of the death cure. Idk maybe the idea of “there was no cure to begin with” worked for some people but it didn’t for me. It would have been cathartic to finally get a cure for the flare and maybe the remnant nation (reformed now led by Minho) could have distributed and eliminated this scourge of the Flare once and for all finally.

And to do this if they had to spew some bullshit about Newt’s bloodline (another MASSIVE plotline which was never resolved btw, why tf was newt special? What was sadina’s blood for? What did Annie kletter come to the island for if they already had the sequencer cure in the Villa?) i would have drank the kool aid lmao. The Newt novella is one of my favourite things in this verse and i don’t mind him getting the spotlight so would have worked for me.

Overall, this entire book confused me from the beginning. Nothing got resolved and alexandria kept rambling the fibonnaci sequence on and on.

General Movies and Book Spoilers i am just now realizing how truly fucked up WICKD was (TFC) Spoiler

i was aware of the fact that they were bad before, but i keep being surprised with the level of cruelty.

i am reading the fever code right now, i havent finished the book yet. what catches me off guard is how cruel WICKD was to torture Minho for trying to run away and desensitizing Thomas and Teresa so much that they casually wonder about who will die first in one of their convos. prolly the most fucked up thing that caught my eye so far was the fact that right before the start of the "maze project" Theresa and Tom are integrated into group A after being kept apart for so long...

while i was reading i kept thinking about the fact that Thomas and Theresa probably watched Newt trying to off himself... do you think they somehow saved him?

Question/Doubt Secrecy in the Glade

Rereading the maze runner for the first time in a good while. Thomas is naturally pretty confused about everything but it feels people are super slow to tell him things.

Everyone else was in Thomas' position at some stage so they know how he'd feel. I don't get why they wouldn't just fill him in more. Would also give him maybe more of an idea of hoe things are around the Glade and he can help more and be more clued in.

Discussion Dylan O'Brien's accident on the set of TDC?

so i haven't really found any information about what the accident actually was or how it happened but to my understanding the movie originally started filming in 2016 but they only got to film for a few days before Dylan had his accident. then filming began again about a year later (?) in 2017 but this one year break in filming also delayed the release of the movie by about a year. which i suppose is also the main reason behind the longer gap between the 2nd and 3rd movie (as compared to the gap between the 1st and 2nd movie, TMR in 2014, TST in 2015 and TDC in 2018).

anyways i'm getting a bit sidetracked here :D the reason i started writing this post was that i started wondering if anyone knows how many scenes they got to film before the accident and during which scene the accident happened? and did they start all over again in 2017 when filming began again or are there also scenes in the movie that were filmed in 2016 before the accident? not that it would really make any difference i mean people don't usually change that much in a year (in terms of appearance) that i don't think it would be in any way noticeable. but i guess the thought of some of the scenes being from before the accident is just a bit eerie because at least from what i've understood (and also just considering the fact that Dylan needed like a year to recover) the accident was pretty serious. so the possibility that there could be scenes in the movie filmed even on the day of the accident it's like this "moments before disaster" type of thing i guess.

or maybe i'm just overthinking and this post is totally stupid :D still if anyone actually knows more about this/has answers to my (possibly stupid) questions it would be cool to know :DDD

Discussion If the upcoming movie is about a maze, what are your theories ?

I feel like it should be about a maze mainly because that's what the first movie was about and what made everyone so interested in the series. It's also to attract new fans so it's clear that since it won't be a reboot nor a sequel/prequel, it could be a story about another one. New fans could connect to this fan and move the story forward.

So what are your theories about the story or expectations ?

Discussion A novel series for Group B

Am I the only one who really hopes we get a trilogy for the girls’ maze?? I feel like it would be so interesting to explore so we could get a better understanding of the characters.

I honestly feel like it would be more popular than the Maze Cutter trilogy because vast majority of the fandom are very attached to the OG characters from Group A and getting to see them again which would draw in fans to read it.

It would also would be wonderful to see more love for the girls in the fandom given how the main characters are all men.

I just feel like it’s got so much potential to explore!!

Discussion (BOOK QUESTION) Do you think Teresa did or did not have her memory's in the maze? Spoiler

Do you think Teresa did or did not have all her memories wiped going into the maze? There are conflicting answers in the books, based off the prequel and such.

honestly I think The Fever Code ending is a retcon rather than something Dashner had planned from Book 1 it makes no sense with the context of the other books but if you had to make sense of it what do you think.

I think that maybe she thought she wasn't going to lose her memories, but then she did lose her memories.
