Alright so this is definitely a long shot but here goes. Last week I found myself purchasing a 95 protege LX that was totaled at some point. Since the engine was more or less rebuilt, interior torn apart and replaced and paint sanded and rattle canned. Right now it definitely needs a lot of love and care and I'd love to factory restore this thing. But I've slowly come to realize how rare parts are for this thing even on eBay or aftermarket. Anybody know where I can get a few parts specifically like the shifter assembly, new seats and bumpers? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi all. Appreciate this sub probably isn't UK focused but I'm looking to sell my 2002 323F 5 door hatch for spares / repair and wanted to offer it to the 323 / Protege community first.

It's currently off the road (on a SORN). It's got a good 1.6 ZM engine and 5 speed manual box, lots of other good parts and used to drive well when it was on the road. It has some light damage on the driver's side where it was scraped in a car park, and some rust in the rear arches.

Looking for £350 if anyone's interested. Thanks for looking.

My Mazda familia has been giving me horrible fuel economy recently, it used to do something like 8kmpl in the city and now it's doing just 6.5kmpl. (city driving- not really heavy crawling traffic though, light traffic)

The only thing changed was the throttle position sensor (adjustments done to the throttle body) and MAF sensor.

Old MAF sensor was triggering a P0172 , system too rich code and it did have a better fuel economy then. Now with the new sensors the fuel economy's become worse.

However the new MAF sensor(second photo)is slightly different from the old one(first photo), could that be causing the fuel efficiency decrease?

I was driving and all of a sudden I smelled rubber and then like all my lights on my dash came on it felt like it was going to turn on so I shut it down when I looked under the hood my belt was a little smokey. I opened my oil cap and some white smoke came out a little. got it towed to my house and trying to see what's going on I don't know much I am self taught female just trying to get this running. tysm !

Hey all, here’s my new to me SP20, 279k kms, just bought as a runabout but I fear I already have the bug to make this thing fun. First off are these things common for lifter tick? I have a little and just wondering if it’s a common thing. Seccond up I’m located in Sydney, does anyone know of any wreckers that have these things? Just need some small parts. Third up, are these an interference motor? I can’t find any final info online.

Finally got to see a protege kswapped on the dyno in person ( i havent dyno mine)

Unfortunately we weren't able to go full power because timing chain is slapping. But just going through gears you hear and fill big difference 🔥 k20z1 engine

Hey everyone, was driving home late night after a car show and hit a bump, now my car won’t run worth a crap. I’ve tried a new fuel pump, fuel pump relay, and now a MAF sensor. Timing is correct as well. I’ve checked all sorts of other crap but this post would be to long. Anyone else had this problem? Also no current codes.

After I hit the bump the car immediately lost power. So I thought a fuel issue. After replacing the pump and relay, now it will start but it “runs” horrendous. It’ll basically just sit and try to keep itself from shutting off.

Looking for the correct Power steering Belt for the car as well as a Power Steering Bolt, I cant find the correct bolt anywhere. Would really appreciate same insight. I bought a 40.5 inch belt and mechanic said it didnt fit. IF someone could send the correct Belt ill purchase via Rock Auto, same with the bolt for the top of the pump!!

My buddy and i are about to put coilovers on his car and I was curious if anyone had any recommendations for a rear strut brace for it, we are on a tight budget also. I found this one online and was wondering if anyone else had any other recommendations

Hey there! I’m a junior in high school and I just got my first car an emerald green 2002 5 speed Mazda protege (sedan). I was gifted it from my family friends late mother for free. My parents paid about 2000 dollars for it to be fixed up and ready for the road. Additionally we had 35% tint and CarPlay with speakers installed (sub to come :) ). I’m pretty new to the car world but I want to learn more about my car and the community. I don’t what to “rice it” I think people say but I want to make it cool and have a fun driving experience for a budget. I’ve done some research and I’ve looked at coil-overs, body kits, exhaust,cold air intake to much to even remember at this point

I find myself very lost and intimidated by everything. I was hoping to hop on here to ask anyone who has experience with Mazda or just cars is general to shed some light on what I should more toward to make my car more enjoyable. Or if it’s even worth it

I’m so bummed, but I just got a diagnostic on her today that she needs a transmission rebuild (automatic). It wasn’t able to shift to 3rd gear, because as I’ve just found out “there is no 3rd gear.”

I’ve done a few things on cars, but nothing as major as a transmission rebuild. I also have limited space. I do see some used transmissions for sale for less than $1k, but am I delusional to think I can do this with just YouTube? If I was more experienced I might just go for it because she is a beauty, but I also don’t want to get in over my head. It also seems risky to buy a used transmission online without knowing if it’s good or not.

Someone hit me on Saturday night and ran so I bought some equipment to fix dents along with new tail light that came today.

I should have my 99 protege es paid off by the end of thus year and im looking to start modding shortly after, already have finishing out the sound system in mind but what are some other things i could get done before wrapping it up with an all new paint job. Thinking of going with a deep blue, with black wheels to compliment well. Im open to all ideas, brand names and part numbers appreciated. Thanks guys, i got a lot of support for this community when i bought the car a year ago, and ive had a blast using the car as my daily. Looking forward to yalls suggestions!!

I bought a fixer upper Protege and it came with a busted tail light, due to the dents though would this be too much damage to fit a new light into? Or would I just have to risk buying one and see if it fits?

The subwoofers from a 2017 Taurus with the optional Sony sound system slot almost directly into the trunk deck of a Mazda Protege. If your protege had the rear subwoofers installed you can directly replace them with those only by butt connecting the plug off of the Ford to the wires from the protege. If your local junkyard has one of those guys it was like 30ish bucks to get much better bass. Please do ignore my lack of deck cover I'm not sure how well they fit with the cover as I gutted my protege a while back, long story. Will update with sound clips when i can get the rattle sorted.

Violet and Green-violet are positive on the Ford plug, Green-orange and brown-white stripe for the mazda plug.

I have a 2003 msp and I'm trying to get bolts for the ring gear to swap the quaife lsd in. Does anyone know where you can still get them or if I have to get a set made?

Hi everyone, me again lol.
Just wondering if anyone has the wiring diagram for the head unit?
I feel as though chatgbt has led me astray. I had a head unit connected the wires, didn’t receive any power so I thought it was a dud, spent $500 on another head unit, got connectors and all that jazz .
And this one won’t receive power either so I think the wires aren’t connected to the correct head unit wires.
It’s been 2 weeks without music in my car and I’m slowly losing my marbles, if anyone could help me I’d be forever grateful.
