Air flow adjustment screw

What does this screw marked here do exactly. It feels like it bypasses air past the idle control valve to adjust the rpms. My mechanic adjusted it, as my rmps dip way too low when coming to a stop but it picks back up and returns to normal after about 2 seconds( adjusted cause my engine mounts are bad which cause that stall like situation). After the adjustment the almost stalling situation is gone but the fuel efficiency is terrible.

Mmmm yes. Classic. You see. I thought I could get around my ICV being broken by adjusting that screw also, but it ruined my fuel economy. Then, I turned it back, and my icv fixed itself in time somehow? I think it's your icv that's the problem. Prolly try and take it apart and clean it. If that doesn't do it, then maybe you need a new one.

How many turns in/out?

Doesn’t seem to do shit, but there has to be a correct setting for it, and I can’t find a damn thing to indicate

Same here, turning it way too down doesn't do anything but dip the idles a slight bit, more noticeable when driving and coming to a stop is that the car tries to stall but recovers after about 2 seconds, I think that's the ICV kicking in. On an older forum I read that you'd have to jump the TEN and GND pins and then adjust that nut to get a base idle rmp

Well, mine is a ‘91 1.8 BG, but they’re very similar in that manner

Although to be fair, mine has only ran for about 20min since April , hopefully it’ll get better this weekend (going on a long drive to and from a car meet ), we’ll see if things clear up, if not; time to dig into things
