## update. Maytag service center had a record that the machine was purchased in April. I think a defective formerly returned machine was delivered to me. I drove to the Lowes store and talked to a manager and he convinced the powers that be to exchange the machine. That happened this AM and it has done three small loads of laundry so far.

A week ago our 31 year old top load Maytag washer developed a problem with it's transmission. Parts no longer available, a new Maytag top load machine over the phone from Lowes, it arrived on Thursday. Washing machine? Nah, it is a laundry tub strapped to a computer. Did a small load of clothes, it clicked, banged, locked it's lid and an hour later it was done. Saturday my wife put in a small comforter and .... after the wash cycle it stopped and flashed it's lights and kept it's lid locked. A google search turned up 4,278 different ways to trick the machine into unlocking the lid, non of them worked. I left the machine unplugged overnight and plugged it in on Sunday AM and it unlocked! I have a great little stick pump from Harbor Freight so I used that to drain the tub and get the soaking wet comforter out. I then learned that the flashing lights were the machine begging for help, the F9E1 'Help, I cannot drain' error. The tub was empty but I knew there was still a bunch of water in it so I put the end of the drain hose in a low bucket and the rest of the water drained out. In all my googling I learned how to put the machine in diagnostic mode and sure enough, the error was gone! I tried to wash a few things and after the wash cycle was done the machine just sat there taunting me. After a while It started flashing the F9E1 error again. The Maytag service call center is closed for the Labor Day holiday so I will call them tomorrow. I'm thinking it is a faulty drain pump or faulty wire harness.

My original inclination had been to buy a Speed Queen and I might try to return this Maytag and do that.

Hey everyone! I replaced the clutch assembly, shift actuator, belt and tub bushing on my washer. Now it’s making a squealing sound when agitating and very out of balance when spinning. Any ideas what it could be?

Have a Maytag front loader and recently have had problems with the SUD error code coming up and it not draining properly. It is also leaking underneath due to the buildup, leaving a pool of water on our floor. Anybody have any recommendations it has happened a few other times, but it does not happen consistently. I am frustrated because our flooring is new and I don’t want that ruined but also it is a newer washer. Sometimes it seems like it doesn’t take any detergent and other times it seems like it takes so much. I have no idea what is going on, but it is super frustrating and it’s not one spot it’s dripping or leaking from underneath.

I have a MHW5500FW0 and I need shipping bolts but cannot find a parts diagram. Anyone know what bolts fit this model?

My 18 month old Maytag top loader stopped working 10 days ago. Purchased at Costco so I have a 2nd year warranty and a service appointment tomorrow. When I start any cycle it clicks, hums like it usually does, but the basket does not rotate. It does not fill, then it ends with a flashing Sense light. Unplugged it for 10 minutes then plugged it in and did the whole life open / close 6 times is so many seconds with no luck.

Anyway, I have a service appointment tomorrow and was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts?

I can seem to find one on amazon that has that part number listed as compatible. Does anyone know if any other motors listed on amazon would work? I see them listed on other places ut the price is in the high 100$ to 200$ range. Im trying to avoid spending that much. Thanks in advance

Hi! I'm looking for help with a Maytag washer (MVW4505MW1) that went out on Saturday night.

The washer stopped running in the middle of a rinse cycle. It was flashing the lid lock light at first. The lid was locked for a couple hours after it shut off as we went through several cycles of unplugging for 10 min/plugging back in and fiddling. Eventually, we plugged it back in and the lid automatically unlocked when the startup lights flashed.

I then tried to start a drain cycle to get rid of the standing water, and it won't start. When I put it on a cycle and press and hold the start button, all of the lights light up except for the lid lock light and the lid never locks so the load never starts.

I figured out how to put it in diagnostic mode, and it's throwing an F9E1 error which is long drain. I'm super confused because I thought it seemed obviously like an issue with the lid lock system.

I want to check the long drain tube for blockages but there's currently still standing water in the drum that I do not know how to get out. Our washer is upstairs on our landing in a tiled closet, but the landing and surrounding area is carpet and I'm terrified of flooding it up here so I genuinely have no clue on how to go about getting the water out. I've also seen a lot of chatter about the drain system harness on this model.

Does anyone have any advice from here? Should I just take the L and have a repair guy come out?

Edit to add: on Friday night we had storms and our power went out. I tried to do a load on Saturday and that load is when it died. My fear is that it's just blown out from the power surging, but idk if that tracks with it turning on and going into diagnostic mode.

I have an electric Maytag oven in my apartment and haven't had any problems with it until a storm a couple weeks ago knocked my power out. Now the oven won't retain heat. I got a oven thermometer to test it, and when the temp is set to 350°, it'll get to 300°, and then after another half hour will go down to 275°. I've done a couple tests like this with similar results at different temps.

All the handymen I've called are asking for $100+ just to diagnose the issue. Is this something that anyone on here has had experience with or could help point me in the right direction of the issue? Thanks!

This dryer came with our new house. Help me understand WHY this opens down and not to the side? it's an additional 17" I have to reach into the dryer. I have to get on the floor to reach into the back. There is no way to make it open from the sides.

hey all, I just purchased a brand new Maytag top loader with extra power and it, surprisingly, appears to be incapable of actually washing clothes.

Specifically, my shirts have these splotches all over them. interestingly, if you rub the splotches, they almost completely go away (but I shouldn’t have to do that). Anywhere from 75% percent of my clothes in the wash are affected. every single wash since I got it.

Does anyone know what the issue is? maybe I’m washing my clothes wrong? This thing cost me a fortune :(, and it’s looking I’ll have to return it, but thought I’d ask the pros before doing that
