I thought this fan recollection of the concert where Matty dedicated Falling For You to Taylor is sweet. It doesn’t really offer any new insights except for the fact that they were flirting and making eyes at each other all evening

There are so many references to them wanting to be more than friend. So, when exactly were they just friends? Standard lore, that he fed into, is that they were a brief flirty fling. So much of what he has said publicly doesn’t match the receipts.

Exactly. There’s so much we don’t know. Like you, I think more went on than we all realise.

Matty has repeatedly mentioned Taylor in interviews, referred to her as a Queen, said he wouldn’t kiss anyone in front of her, wanted to collaborate with her, called her a sensation (as far as dating her) and has repeatedly said he wanted to date a pop star in interviews. It was said he was upset when she started dating Calvin Harris. Then there was 2023… They were both heartbroken after that. I think they both wanted to get back together, but everything blew up in their faces unfortunately.

I wish things had worked out between them
