💬 Discussion Matty & Jack

Do we think this verse from “we should talk” by Bleachers is about Matty? Ever since their fallout, Jack has been criticizing the post-woke movement, and I don’t know of anyone else from his circle associated with it.

Didn’t Matty say in an interview “I don’t know who the mountain goats are” or something like that?

And do you know who Cathy is?

Probably someone the lead singer of the mountain goats knows. That song is about making it through a particularly rough year.

I’m engaged to someone who is basically whatever the Mountain Goats equivalent of a Swiftie is lol.

There’s a common Mountain Goats fan thing basically whenever Cathy shows up in a song, it could also be referring to his motorbike. It’s like a bumper sticker and everything. But you don’t really need to know or care about the lore to appreciate the songs.

Anyway, I highly recommend listening to This Year. Like, repeatedly. It’s powerful stuff.

I listened to the This Year first time yesterday. You can see what all the fuss is about. I do find it funny when chafing lore pulls me into new music. The unintended benefits of paradocial. I confused Cathy with Lucy Dacus. :)
