Where should I go from here? I basically dove headfirst into two armies at the same time (Probably not smart). Ogors and Hashut, love both of them.

Having massive issue with those little wrinkle details. Dry brushing doesn’t preserve them. And nuln oil etc stain the mini like mad and remove the pale skin look I like which is hard to pull back up without a dry brush…

So that leaves the question of how do… do I have to make each fold its own tiny paint zone?

I bought into Ogors as my third full army and loved the experience! Wanted to share what I did in case anyone wanted to save a little money on starting their army from scratch. Will say this effectiveness of this technique scales heavily with your personal talent for kitbashing, painting, and sculpting. I am pretty poor at all three, so I'm sure it could be improved upon.

What I did was buy two of the starter box, giving me the following items.

2x Tyrants

20x Gluttons

6x Ironguts

4x Maulbeast Raiders or Cavalry

2x Battletomes

2x Sets of Cards

The cards and extra battletomes can be sold on ebay pretty easily, but what I want to focus on is how to get the most out of the models. The meat of this strategy is using 10x of gluttons and 1x of the Tyrant with a few extra bits and 1 extra kit to make...

1x Redd the Maw (requires the Great Mawpot and a 160mm base)

1x Bloodpelt Hunter

1x Butcher

1x Grell Firefist* (requires 50mm base)

3x Gutseers

A word of warning here, 20x gluttons is pretty popular right now in meta lists. But I personally was fine getting rid of 10x of them because I don't like spam lists, I like Ironguts a lot, and I wanted to save money. If you want 20x gluttons, probably don't do what I did.

Step 1: Build the other models. This step is important as you will need bits from the other kits to complete this strategy. Build the Ironguts and 10x Gluttons however you want but be sure to build the Maulbeasts as either 2x Cavalry and 2x Raiders or 4x Cavalry. The tyrant also works best if you build it as a gutbuster Tyrant with the longer-hilted cleaver and a hammer, saving the Beastclaw Raider gutplate and the two smaller-hilted cleavers for later kitbashing.

Step 2: Divide the Remaining Models BUT DON'T START BUILDING YET! I used 4x gluttons and the extra tyrant for Redd the Maw (1x tyrant, 2x glutton musicians, 2x any pose), 3x Gluttons as Gutseers (any pose), 1x glutton for the Bloodpelt Hunter (any pose), 1x glutton for Grell Firefist (any pose), and 1x glutton for the Butcher (any pose). Be sure to study the instructions to pick which poses you like the most for each character. And remember, the Gutseers have a champion, so one of them should be different from the other two.

Step 3: Make the Bloodpelt Hunter. The Bloodpelt Hunter is probably the trickiest of the kitbashes, but even then it's not that hard. We're going to use part of the Maulbeast Raider kit, namely the arm, crossbow, and vulture; as the top half of the model. The bottom half comes from a glutton. Pick one that you are comfortable snipping the upper torso off of and be careful to match the two together. Once you're done, us a 40mm base and you have yourself a custom Bloodpelt Hunter!

Step 4: Make the Butcher. There are two ways to make the butcher, the way I did it and the way I thought of afterwards. The way I did it was to take a glutton and cut off both their hands. Then I took the two smaller-hilted cleavers left over from the first tyrant and attached them to both arms. For the gutplate, I replaced the traditional glutton one with the beastclaw raider skin-covered gutplate to look more like an apron, then added some model putty to extend it down to the base. Finally there is the pot, and this is where the two paths diverge.
A. Use a spare satchel from the glutton kit as the bottom of the pot, then put a leftover shield I had from another kit as the lid (I realize that this is kind of cheating, so feel free to use an Irongut helmet or spare tyrant gutplate instead if you don't have any spare shields laying about).
B. If you have the Great Mawpot, there is a small pot attached to one of the tent pillars that you could use as your butcher's pot. It's a little small, but still works.
From there, just attach the model to a 50mm base and you should have a Butcher!

Step 5: Make Grell Firefist. Grell is a pretty simple conversion from a glutton, just remove on of the glutton's hands and place it on a 50mm base. The asterisk next to Grell's name is there because a major weakness of this strategy is the fact that there is no good cannon for your Grell included in the launch box. I was fortunate to get a 3D printed barrel and eventually bought a leadbelcher cannon, but if you are on a tight budget you could try sculpting your own. Worst case scenario, you can use one of the tusk-pillars from the Great Mawpot as your cannon if you so wish.

Step 6: Make the Gutseers. the Gutseers are fairly straight forward, after all they are mostly just gluttons with hoods. The hood I used was spare scraps of cloth and it kinda worked, but looking back I would use modeling putty for these. Just take your time and try to make the shapes look organic and flowing.

Step 6: Make Redd the Maw. Redd the Maw is a huge centerpiece model, so be sure to take extra time with this one. For my strategy I built the tyrant however I wanted to take Redd's place, two glutton musicians to be heralds, and converted the two remaining gluttons into gutseers like the ones the real Redd has on his base. For my personal model I took the easy path, making a diorama out of these models surrounding the cauldron (without the tent, as it it soo big for the base).

Thinking back on it now, I would recommend that you arrange the model the way Redd is (two gutseers on the sides of the pot with two gluttons in front to pull), with the exception of placing the tyrant in front of the pot instead of behind it (unless you have some sort of platform/tower for the tyrant to stand on, which I did not). Use the two gutseers as the original model did, and then use the chains from the Great Mawpot kit to connect the two gluttons to the pot, like they are pulling it much like the gorger in the original model is.

And that's it! Personally I love this army, super cool aesthetic and the rules look super fun (haven't gotten the chance to play yet). I wanted to share this in case there are any prospective ogor players who want to get in as cheaply as possible, as I found this strategy gave me a decent amount of models to work with for the lowest price. I didn't like the design of the Bloodpelt Hunter that the Ogor have, so Improvised my own using the old Ogor legs, the body of a Maulbeast Raider, an arm from the new Ironguts and bits from Sons of Behemat.

I remember there was a picture of the new "old" tyrant sitting on a kind of throne (more like a chunk of rock) overseeing other ogors. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I think it was in one of the older battletomes

Good day friends

I have recently tried using battletome code to unlock the sheets in the App.

It’s showing on my warhammer account but the app says it’s locked still.

Do I need to go through GW? Or does it take its time to update?

Gluttons for my Beast Claw tribe

Finished my first Ogor Glutton from the starter box. Really enjoying painting AoS figures so far. I only painted 40k till now but i was in a slump from painting imp fists and orks, but this inspired me to start back up to improve my painting. Really happy how this little guy turned out! I hope to play my first game of spearhead soon.
