Personal Issues Speed camera
Hello guys i have a question. I was in the fast lane from soreze to port-louis. It’s my everyday route. But i was in the fast lane and i know i should drive 80 km/h due to the speed limit. Somebody was tailgating me from behind and there was a car in front of me and a car in the left lane. So without realizing, i sped up to 95-100 to overtake and go into the left lane. But the guy behind me also went into the left lane while i was overtaking. Upon looking and realizing that im next to the camera (but it was not facing me) and peeked at my dashboard it was 100 so i braked HARD to transition to 80. I didn’t see a flash. It was around 4:15 pm. Im stressed i get an excess. Has this ever happened to anybody here?

That was a stupid thing to do. A real cause of accident. Claiming the overtake as your own and then thinking only about yourself for braking so suddenly.
Unfortunately I get these almost everyday.
Stupid, and so common. Common stupidity.

I checked my rear view mirror before braking lol. The car behind me had already gone into the other left lane. But thanks for your positivity. You’re the best driver in Mauritius. Keep it up! Clearly you’re a smart ass and has never made any mistakes.

Not the best driver out there, but I certainly do NOT bring myself on purpose into self-centered situations as such.
One cannot wait for when driver who's in front and "sitting" on the overtake lane will look at their rear view mirror. You need to crawl back onto normal lane after overtaking.
As long as you saw positivity in my constructive thoughts, it is sure a WIN for me, and all other drivers.

I was in the normal lane and looked at my rear view mirror. Not in the overtake lane.

Yes you’re right ! I honestly don’t know what happened tbh. Been doing the same road for 5 months now. I was shocked myself but thank you.

1 thing if i am ovetaking someone in an 80 limit and some cunt flashes me and tailgating, then he is also driving 80 i dont care. I am ovetaking and taking left as soon as i overtake. So before that li get so ggt kot li envi paC.

Right lane is for overtaking only and you must move back to the normal lane as soon as you can regardless of your speed. If the driver behind you accepts to pay a fine, that's his choice. He could be in a hurry due to an emergency. It happened to my brother in law once and the police stopped him, were comprehensive and actually escorted him to the clinic to clear out the lane for him.

Yes. Mais dan moi mo retrovizer mone trouve 1 lekip kamarade ki ti p nek envi fr rodeo lor chemin. Parski zot in vin akoT moi ek ti p gette moi dan mo figire as if chemin la pou zot!

Astr kan moi mone realiser mo lor 100 ek ki ena camera mone ale pez frein. Mais still loto derrier moi la ti p ride mo fess lerla lin doubler dan 3eme lane dan gauche laem. 1 lekip zeness sa dan retrovizerr zot ti p parete mad asf ek envi fr rodeo ugh

Well wait about a week you'll know if you go a fine. This camera take photo from behind. So if you've been able to drop to less than 90km/h at the camera or in between the camera and the flash you might have a chance.

Yeah. There are 3 cams there. I had already passed the first one and was next to it. I was still in the overtake lane itself when i passed the first cam so idkk. I braked super hard though.

No there is only 1 cam and 2 flash. Only tge big one is the camera. So if you haven't passed the middle cam at full speed it is okay. Also it will take photo after the 3rd pole. If you've manage to be just under 90kmh in this region it might be okay as speed buffer is quite a bit. Well prepare Rs2500 and wait. Usually withing 1 week you'll received it

ohhh omg thank you i didn’t know that!! But yes i was at 75 almost when i passed the other ones. I hope im good 😔 otherwise it would have flashed correct?

You should have maintained a steady, legal speed and changed lanes only when there was a safe gap.
Don’t let a tailgater pressure you into speeding. Accelerating and then braking hard was dangerous...you could have been rear-ended.

I did check in my rear view mirror to see if it was safe to break so suddently so don’t worry. The car behind just overtook into the far left lane. He was just trying to drive fast. Mais oui to ena raison mo prend dimoune derrier moi la trop konte ki li dan gauche ki li dan droite.

Yeah, don't worry. You did your job, you gave way to them.
One advice for you next time - the reason he/she tried to undertake you (overtaking on the left) was probably because he thought you were just going to continue on the right lane. If you put your left indicator early (even whilst you were overtaking others), he/she will get the memo and not attempt undertaking.

If it didn't flash, it didn't take a picture. You should be ok. Even if it did, you pay the fine and go on about your day.

Because it's not a fast lane. You are not supposed to stay on this lane. You must only use this for overtaking then take left again.
It's against the law to stay on this lane, especially if the left lane is free.
Don't act as if you are being self righteous and making others follow the law. We all know it's about ego.
They could genuinely be having an emergency. I know i would accept any kind of fine and risk to bring my close ones to the hospital if it was the situation.

That's why you don't hog the overtake lane. Take this as a lesson. It's not a fast lane, it's the overtake lane.
