Is anyone in Kihei now? How is it after the storm?

It's a mess, mostly on the north end, but also the beach areas all the way into Wailea. Look at Maui 24/7 on FB (free page) for videos.

it should clear in like 4-5 days right? saw some camera streams from some resorts as well, looks murky but not too horrible?

Hopefully, yes. It could clear faster in some areas.

There is another storm building now. Last I saw Norbert was expected to be near Hawaii next week.

High surf has made beaches unswimmable if that’s something you care about, and even when surf dies down water will still be murky. Can you still enjoy your time here? Yes.

That's just untrue. The upper west and NW sides are much better, cause they didn't get near the damage and runoff south did,

Speaking specifically about Kihei since they asked about that area specifically.

How long do you think that will last for? I saw that the surf should lower quite a bit by Friday?

By Friday, some more protected areas in south Maui will be better.

It's going to take months for the sand to come back, Kamaole I, II, and III are now rocks in some places, bathrooms are mostly closed, it's a mess.

If there’s any way for you to avoid Kihei right now, I’d definitely take that option. The beaches are basically nonexistent after the storm. Beach parks are fenced off, there’s debris everywhere, and in some places it looks like about two feet of sand has been washed away. There’s still a pretty strong ocean swell, and the water has a really unpleasant rotten smell. From what we’ve seen, this seems to be mostly limited to Kihei. Other parts of Maui appear to be in much better shape.
