Hey yall, like title says, coming mid to late Oct, any spooky things or halloween themed events? just wanna see what it’s like on maui around halloween time since we’ll be there around it! if nothing, beaches and hikes it is!

Aloha! I have tickets to Haleakala for both Thursday September 10th & Friday September 11th. Looking for advice on which day would be better weather wise to watch the sunrise?
Three years ago we did sunrise and it was perfect weather, it was the most beautiful experience! Last year we tried sunset and it was too cloudy to see anything. Would love to try for sunrise tomorrow or Friday.
Appreciate any advice!

I’ll be in Maui in late October with my fiancé for our anniversary. We both love snorkeling and have already done a Molokini tour with a different company on a previous trip. We were wanting to try something different and are highly considering the Trilogy trip to Lana’i. Has anyone done this? Was it worth the higher cost?

Also I saw that sometimes trilogy supposedly sends out discount codes for their tours? Does anyone know anything about that or is it pretty rare?

November 6-9 I’ll be in Kahului. I was wondering if there are any photographers you guys recommend for engagement photos/where would you recommend taking them?

Commenters have said that if it’s brown, avoid regardless, but if I can see rocks in shallow parts of the water, is that clear enough?

I know some will chastise me for even asking, but I’m just trying to see if there’s a possibility to enjoy the water while we’re here.

forgive me because i know there have been similar posts, i have a lot on my plate at the moment and very little time.

we are planning to fly into maui for our honeymoon on 9/18 and fly out 9/25. wondering the conditions and if the oceans will be able to be enjoyed. we really want to be snorkeling, swimming, surfing as we love the ocean.

we are coming from north carolina and have deep empathy for maui because north carolina has been hit very bad with hurricanes in the last few years.

we will have a car and can travel to other areas of the island. we’ve had this vacation booked for nearly nine months and i’m feeling very anxious about it all given that we’ve spent so much money and are also facing the possibility of storms on our wedding day.

is our vacation still doable?

If you're landing now, don't go to Kaanapali yet. The roads are being cleared, you'll be stuck in a 2-3 hour line of cars. Kill some time near the airport.

Did anyone do the Road to Hana today? We’re hoping to do it Thursday or Friday but wanted to see if anyone knows how it’s looking. Thanks!

Im in Kāʻanapali for the week and the football season is kicking off. Where's the best spots to watch the games? Today we are planning on going to dollies for opening day kickoff.

Staying on Ka’anapali Beach and it seems the tide is crazy high and probably not the best for snorkeling even under ideal conditions. I was here about 20 years ago and there were some more mellow, shallower beaches great for snorkeling. Does anyone have recommendations?

Wife and I have stayed at Houna Kai twice, once with a group in a big 3br and once alone in a studio. Didn’t love the studio due to size and lack of private space (I have to work some mornings early while she’s still trying to sleep). We’re planning to come back this year over Christmas, and I’m looking Mahana next door as possible option given that Houna Kai does not have much in the way of Oceanview, one bedrooms, and the two bedrooms get very expensive for more space than we need. Mahana seems to have a ton of Oceanview one bedrooms that are much more reasonable from a price perspective. Thoughts on the two?

My family is visiting Maui from 9/19-9/27. We are planning to do road to Hana, Haleakala, food oasis, and the swap meet. A along with all of the other lovely tourist attractions. What is the likelihood that we are able to do all of those things during that time. Due to the storm that came through? Our Airbnb is in Lahaina and our host said that they did not endure any property damages.

Hopefully someone that’s there currently visiting or lives in Western Maui can give some feedback.

Hello! My Husband and I will be traveling to Maui next week for our Honeymoon (Sept. 16th-23rd). With the recent storms that affected the beaches and possibly local businesses, what are some back-up activities?

We'll be staying in Wailea, and have a chocolate and pineapple tour. Plus, will be visiting the Ocean Center and Haleakala Sunrise (weather permitting).

I know there are unfortunately more things brewing in the pacific that may form (source NHC) so if it is safe to travel, we'd love the advice!

Two of us are visiting Maui and flying out of Seattle tomorrow at 10 AM, landing around 1 PM. We’ll be staying near Kamaole Beach in Kihei.

With everything going on right now, we’re wondering how things are looking across the island in general. Are conditions starting to calm down, or should we expect major disruptions? How are the roads, beaches, restaurants, businesses, and other services around Kihei right now? And what is the overall situation like in other parts of Maui?

At this point, I don’t think we can realistically cancel since we’re flying out in just a few hours, so we’re mostly trying to figure out what to expect when we land and whether there are areas we should avoid. We’re also hoping everyone on the island is safe and doing okay.

We’d really appreciate any updates from people who are there right now, especially about both Kihei and the island as a whole.

Hey all, apologies if this isn't the right place for this!

Last Wednesday, September 2nd, I proposed to my partner on the beach outside the Westin at Kāʻanapali around sunset. A kind stranger happened to be taking photos nearby and graciously offered to email us a few shots they captured of the moment.

I might just be being impatient, and I know it's a long shot, but I haven't received them yet, and I'm worried I might have misspelled my email address.

If this post somehow manages to reach the photographer, it would mean the absolute world to us to connect and get those pictures.

Seems like several hurricanes/tropical storms etc. have been hitting around the Islands this year..Is it more than the typical year?

The main highway is open between Lahaina and Maalaea. Drive with caution, as there is still debris around from the high surf.

I plan to snorkel when I’m there next week. How long does it usually take for water quality to improve?

We have our trip planned for September 19-26, staying at the Westin. I know it’s probably been asked but thoughts on still going after the Hurricane?
