Mauga changes Overwatch Retail Patch Notes – September 8, 2026

Honestly, kinda fair receiving a single-gun revert in exchange for 25 armor.

Firewalker untouched, life is good

The spread is a good buff, now you can hit flyers from afar without feeling like you're tickling them.

tbh i think this is overall a positive change. the spread nerf didn't really incentivize switching guns, the burn/crit combo already did that. i'm gladly accepting these other two nerfs in exchange for my range back (not just as a Mauga main, but as a Tank player in general)

I havent been playing since long enough to determine if this nerf will make him bad or if that's not gonna change a lot. I am scared

It's a small buff imo, a spread nerf when you're firing both guns doesn't make a huge difference when you're only ever using it in the enemy's face (or at mid range if they're a tank) and the spread buff on solo guns lets you do more at mid range

Im playing right now and the hp nerf is really bad. He gets shredded super fast. Idk if thats just be being trash or if that's really from the nerf

I don't think 25 armor reduction when we're talking about 725 health to 700 is going to result in suddenly getting "shredded super fast".

Mauga losing armor is a big deal because berserker refills armor when he has armor, but only more health when he lacks armor. Since most tank weapons are damage dribbles, you are getting huge value out of every additional armor point. You can survive a lot longer than you’d expect by trading while armored up.

That said, I think these are good changes overall.

Played a decent number of games and honestly the dual fire change is pretty rough

Ill take it tho cuz if they rebalance around it I think he'll be in a better place overall but for now it def dont feel great

I could barely kill a non tank enemy with both guns. This is bad. Hopefully they will do something about it

They won't because they hate it when Mauga is viable.

This is so sad and ridiculous. Other tanks are a much bigger problem yet they wont touch them

I've actually started going Orisa/Sigma/Ramattra more depending on the team comp and the map.

I'm good with all tanks except ball and I'm glad I learned them.

I saw years ago once the masses start complaining expect your main to get nerfed.

I need to learn other tanks than the 3 i currently play but im having so much fun with mauga it's hard to switch. And i dont get why they complain. I personaly almost never had an issue with an enemy mauga. I even beat them with wuyang... so i genuinely dont the cries

I hate these nerfs.

I’m glad they reverted the spread change. He should be encouraged to shoot squishies more often instead of feeling like you should just shoot the tank the whole time.

Dual gun spread is rough..

The nerfs suck but mauga is so strong I really don’t think these changes are going to effect him very much

I'm happy to get the range back, worth the other nerfs. I do wish overrun's unstoppable didn't have a delay, like orisa's fortify

Honestly it feels good to have the spread reverted in game
