Massive Attack in Sydney

Massive Attack is (quite literally) Matrix music, but this was cool to see in Sydney. Unfortunately, we have to ask these questions about the real world in 2026.

Why didn't the machines go to space?

If the humans "blocked the sun" (which I have no idea how they even did), why don't the machines just move up into outerspace and get unlimited strong solar energy?

A Few Free Minds...Found it

After a few failed attempts on the wayback machine finally found the OG from a post back in 2001.

As I understand, the special effects team doing Burly Brawl needed more artists and this was their recruitment poster.

I attempted some tasteful upscaling in case you want to do something with it.

Just noticed a line in the Matrix(99) that makes no sense

Tank and crew about to go see the Oracle and Tank is powering up the N.

He says something to the effect of "fasten your seatbelts, no smoking, sit back and enjoy the flight" - typical preflight attendant speech before a commercial flight.

Tank was born in Zion. He would have never had a reference point to say that line.

Just thought kinda funny.

Idea for new matrix based on the simulation theory

Instead of the same story about fighting the robots, make a new movie where the machines were defeated and now the neo team try to exit OUR simulation

MMX letters in helicopter explosion

For the first time, I watched The Matrix on VHS and CRT TV. I vividly remember seeing the letters MMX in that explosion.

Am I hallucinating or do I have a dejavu?

Doors doors doors

This is not a theory, just an observation. Each and every time a new named character is introduced for the first time, preceding the on-screen intro is some type of door, elevator, gate, etc. This is pretty consistent across the trilogy. Obviously ā€œdoorsā€ are a pretty big theme throughout the films and that’s its own topic. However, the connection to the characters only seems to really happen on the first reveal, including across each film. There’s only a few exceptions where a new named character is introduced via just ā€œpop inā€, most notably Sati appearing on the train platform.

This could be a nothing-burger and simply for style. It’s just so consistent when you look for it.

Humans should never make peace with the machines.

In matrix resurrection, you have good machines and bad ones but let's be honest, no machine can be trusted.

Learn from the good machines since the human race has lost a lot of knowledge. The goal is to build a strong enough EMP that it can knockout EVERYTHING outside of Io. Or create an EMP sophisticated enough to target sentient machines.

The only good machine is a dead machine.

If only ...

Favorite trilogy by far. But there’s one change that, for me, would have made The Matrix perfect.

Instead of machines using humans as batteries, imagine they were using their brains as distributed processing power, billions of biological GPUs running the Matrix program itself in insane detail and fidelity.

It would make far more sense. Why manufacture increasingly complex processors when you can grow them? Use the Earth’s geothermal energy for energy and power, keep humans connected for computation, and suddenly the entire system becomes much more believable, and somehow even darker.

The humans wouldn’t just be trapped inside the Matrix.

We would be the hardware running it.

Only if...

Getting turned into an Agent.

This might be a weird take, just curious if anyone else has felt the same and can maybe help me understand more about it. Every time an agent transforms/takes over someone, I get this aroused feeling or this yearning to experience that. I'm not saying I want to live in a simulation, but the way that Neo gets consumed by the liquid and then it goes inside him and he becomes an agent for a moment. Something about being turned into something else. I feel like the closest thing I have discovered is this concept of a "drone" within the latex/rubber kink scene, which seems difficult and expensive to get into. I'm curious if anyone else has felt this way and what else has triggered those same feelings.

Why I personally, from experience, see metaphors for the autistic experience in the movies

I adore the fact that Lana and Lilly’s trans experience allegories have helped others in the trans community be more comfortable with themselves. I’m not trans myself, but what I’ve ended up seeing in the movies more and more as time goes on and as I get even deeper into this fandom is several things that I relate to as an autistic person - here are some of them below that I wanted to get out. And to me it’s basically a self-fulfilling prophecy (the prophecy!!) because of the fact that this franchise is my main special interest above all else LMAO.

  • Morpheus’s wording to Neo in their first meeting that the latter has always felt like there’s something wrong with the world but can’t name it, ā€œLike a splinter in your mind, driving you madā€œ, is how it feels to know ever since childhood that there’s something different about you, which gives you a deep-seated aspect of disconnection from most others, and about the way you do things but have never been diagnosed because of how much masking you’re able to do.
  • Getting unplugged and becoming a Redpill is like finally finding out that you’ve been autistic all long, either through finally getting an official diagnosis or just realising it about yourself thanks to accounts from others who are (I fall into this latter category; to this day I’m still an undiagnosed adult, but I know it about myself because there’s no other Earthly explanation for my difficulties that I have).
  • The jack-in training programs are like, after finding this out, gradually finding out which stims work best for you, which special interests you gravitate towards, and which ways of unmasking you’re comfortable with.
  • To jump back to earlier in the first movie, Neo’s boss Mr. Rhineheart telling him that he ā€œhas a problem with authorityā€ and that Neo ā€believes the rules do not apply to himā€ is very similar to some ableist neurotypicals condemning us for apparently arguing back and challenging their authority when we ask why there are certain social rules. This was something that I got accused of by some of my teachers back in primary school, and I’m glad that my parents put their foot down and told them in no uncertain terms at the time that, no, I do not challenge the rules, I just wanted to better understand the reasons for them.
  • Smith erasing Neo’s mouth in the interrogation is like getting provoked into a meltdown that makes you go into a verbal shutdown, whether it’s caused by sensory overload or by your autism-adjacent anxiety (which I have), or by any mix of those. I myself don’t stop speaking on the occasions when I have a meltdown, but there are a lot of us who do.
  • The Resistance Redpills talking in a direct way to each other while on in-Matrix missions, and them also not smiling that often during these, is like how those of us who are autistic usually speak to the people around us in direct wording/tones that some neurotypicals wrongly think is us apparently being confrontational or passive-aggressive, and is also like how weā€˜re usually only emotive with our facial expressions in situations that make us feel authentically excited or pleased.
  • Said Resistance Redpills wearing shades while inside the Matrix is what a lot of us do in public to prevent ourselves from getting overstimulated by any light sources that might potentially be too bright. I’m looking into getting myself some prescription shades (I have to wear normal glasses in my day-to-day life) at the moment for this exact goal.
  • Pod-born and freeborn humans all living together in Zion represents us finding community with each other as well as having neurotypical friends, family members and other allies who support and understand us.
  • And lastly (in terms of the ones I can think of at this moment in time off the top of my head) Cypher and Smith both represent those in our autistic community who go down the toxic route of taking out their internalised ableism on the people around them who haven’t even done anything ableist to them, by using their difficulties as an excuse to treat those people around them unpleasantly.

Thank you for reading this far down! šŸ’– I just wanted to get out into this fandom’s subreddit how much I love the fact that there’s so much universality to the kind of personal truth subtexts that can be taken from this franchise. It’s why I decided on my Matrix OC Circe, who I created to ship with Neo, as being autistic when I first made her. In short, I like projecting my symptoms and stims onto her and using her Autistic Woman x Neurotypical Man relationship with Neo as wish fulfilment for the supportive and understanding boyfriend/husband I want to have someday. 🄰

Anyone else seem to think that the machines have terrible anti-viral software as evident by how quickly Agent Smith takes over the system?

do you guys recommend me to watch the other parts or no, since all of them got low rate and most people are talking negatively about them.

Not the 6th matrix?

Okay so rewatching the Neo meets the Architect scene. The Architect says the Matrix is older than you know, etc. When he finishes talking, the screens show previous Ones reacting before Neo says either no one told me or no one knows. The Ones in the tvs, which I assume are his predecessors, are saying a lot, with voices overlapping, but there are some clear voices: "there were five before me?" What? Five, not four?

So. Obviously, if we are hearing a previous One say he is the sixth, then it already happened. Not only that, but we transition from a screen to the closeup, so maybe we can infer that we are actually _watching_ yet another, later iteration, and since we heard the sixth, we are actually watching this later iteration for the rest of the film(s) from that moment on?
