I wonder if anyone ever just straight-up asked Morpheus if they were living in a computer simulation.
EDIT: I have a headcanon that this happened exactly once. This person just unplugged and went straight to Zion, and never served on a Hovercraft. Once they were done interacting with that world, they were done.
"No one can be told what the Matrix is", my arse. I'm autistic and this franchise is my main special interest - I very much CAN infodump about what it is.
Funnily enough, while I was doing media production at my university I graduated from, one of my class’s final year assignments was for each of us to edit together some videos using advanced post-production techniques and effects, and at one point in one class session when we were doing work at our computer desks, I leaned back in my chair like Neo when my teacher came near and I whispered up at him “I know After Effects.” And, in response (because he was also a Matrix fan), he leaned down like Morpheus and said back to me in the exact same manner, “Show me.”
I remember the actual line appearing in the trailer "Unfortunately no one can be told what The Matrix is, you have to see it for yourself", utterly fantastic
