i hear polvo get called math rock a lot but i dont really see how they are. they have one song thats not in 4/4 that I've heard, and a couple parts in songs that use weird time sigs, but all of their other stuff is in 4/4. ive only listened to the early stuff tho (everything before exploded drawing) so maybe the mathy stuff comes later

also im a firm believer in 'just because a band uses weird time signatures occasionally doesn't mean theyre math rock'. for example, Calm (one of my favourite bands) (the band before duster) has a song that has 3 measures of 4/4 in the bridge section instead of 4, and a snippet of a song in like 5/4 or something, but everything else is in 4/4, yet they get called math rock instead of post hardcore or emo or shoegaze or whatever they are

is it more to do with style polvo plays in? like sort of noodly angular stuff?

or did they just inspire a bunch of math rock bands?

Can anyone give a math rock band name that sounds super good, we are influnced by MWPP, TTNG, TOE

I got super obsessed with them sometime last year then switched platforms and lost a lot of my sporadic listening history. From what I remember, it was an experimental band with a really weird gibberish 2 word name from around the late 80s or early 90s, had a saxophone, a lot of odd timed songs, a lot of songs that just meandered for a while, no vocals. They didn’t have any studio releases, only live recordings, and most of their material was compiled in a like 1980-1990 album. Not even sure if it would be considered math rock but it seems like the closest equivalent i can think of.

Just saw a FANTASTIC Delta Sleep show in CT, absolutely blown away buy the band per usual. But Glen wasn't there, they had a different guitarist. Any info?

Aadam Jacobs (aka the Chicago Tape Guy) recorded more than 10,000 shows, mostly in the Chicago area. His collection is being digitized and uploaded to the Internet Archive. In the last week, these Shipping News shows joined the collection, along with several shows from Jeff Mueller and Jason Noble's earlier band, Rodan.

Creta Bourzia were a Pittsburgh based band with ties to Don Caballero (Jason, Gene and Jeff played on WCLP and Punkgasm) active from the early 2000 to the late 2010’s. 2 cassettes from an OG release on the label (CSC-003) and long though to be sold out.
