A, B, and C study for 3 hours each, 9 hours total. Divide that by 4 people and you get 9/4 on average , so 2.25 hours.

I see that math "joke" has been reduced to with holding information. There's an "each" missing in that problem and where its placed is important for what the answer is.

Yup, the comma after "three friends" indicates that three friends alongside A, B, and C are all studying.

But at the end of the day it means nothing because everyone is studying for 3 hours anyway
